In recent weeks there has been a lot of discussion about the lack of public games which has led to cries of “the game is dying” or “everyone has left”. Just to make sure we all understand how the public game numbers work, Blizzard has clarified how the system changed after v1.3.

One of the nastier issues with 1.0.3 (don’t try to top that in the comments please. kthx) is starting the game but being locked into a level cap of 13. This is because the Digital Download basically starts you off on the Starter Edition which comes with that restriction. After 72 hours your game becomes the full version and you can play on.

With the new patch (notes from earlier) comes the inevitable issues, some of which have been acknowledged by Blizzard. There are no doubt more issues and unconfirmed changes to that game than are reported here and if you find any feel free to add them to the comments and we’ll update this news item.

Patch 1.03 is coming today and with it a heap of changes. This popped up on the European forums and then disappeared just as quickly, but I assume it’s what we will all be seeing very shortly. One change that I’m most excited for is the fact that town is now safe again for players as monsters will be no longer kitable. Also it is interesting to note that they have fixed the bug that helped kungen cheat death a few weeks ago.

Patch 1.0.3 is now on the servers (although not live to download). These are the skill changes you can expect to see once the patch is live.

The list of changes for the next patch is now available in the game files! Hot on the heals of patch 2, this third patch addresses more minor issues (reported yesterday). These are mainly in-game tooltip changes to the hotfixes that occurred previously. There also seems to be more quest changes to prevent more exploitation of experience grinding.
