ZealZon PvP Build

Well, before introducing this in the PvP forum I have some questions.

I was thinking of building a ZealZon, using the Passion runeword, and taking high advantage of the passive skills.
But first i need to know:

- Has this build been tried before? If so is there a thread about it or something?
- Can someone link me to the Zon ias table or calculator or whatever? Can't find it... Need to know how much IAS I would need to consider the possible gear.
- What'ya guys think? It has the potential to be relativly cheap and fun..

I am just trying to imagine how this would work, how would zeal effect ga besides the ias? Like berserk in Passion, would that in anyway apply to a bow?

it says 4 socket weapon so you could make it in a bow I assume, when it comes to zons I am sort of focused on bows, just a habit.

Mhh..you're right, I thought it stated "mellee weapons"... mh, how would Zeal and Zerk work in a bow?
Very interesting...Very interesting indeed..anyone can do the test? (with single player character creator)

I did, however my editor lists all skills as auras, as in berserk aura etc so I am not sure if I got an accurate read on this. My defence doesnt drop to zero when I am firing so I am assuming the zerk dont work. I am going to repost this topic in a different way.

This sounds good , however bear in mind that using non-thrusting weapons (daggers/javelins) warrants the Zon a very slow FHR (maybe block too) speed which is generally very bad for PvP .

Ok, I just made Passion bow on editor and the answer is neither zeal nor zerk are usable with a bow as I thought so thats a no go.

Zeal or Berserk doesn't work with Bows or Crossbows. Just slap on your Zealot a bow and try Zealing. Now repeat the same with a Barb.

I cant see this being a effective build, but i can see it being an extremely fun build just to surprise people.
btw, zeal and zerk are melee only

Now that i think about it....Maybe with a very high a/e/d a 2 handed Zeaker zon could be good....No def, but no def needed...just 1 big, 1 hit-kill...

ok, my zon will now be a Zerker-Zeal Zon (Triple Z for short XD)

I actually tried this once, but didn't get very far with it. Someone in an earlier post said their FHR was slow when using a non-thrusting weapon. I never experienced the slow FHR, but I do know that the blocking rate is HORRIBLY slow if you're using a non-thrusting weapon.

I'm not sure if you can fix this by pilling on a whole buch of FBR. But if you could it sounds like you'd have to make a whole lot of gear sacrifices to do it.

Just remember to keep a titans/ss on switch for LF/LB against melee chars. Try luring with javs and then zerking for casters.

The problem you run into is low damage output. I'd suggest a one-handed Passion (Zerker axe with a high ED!), a Phoenix shield, Fortitude armor, Gore Riders (and a high critical strike skill to back them up, too!), Highlord's, CoA, and a couple of Ravensfrosts.

That was the idea :p..thought, I dunno if pheonix is that helpful...I was thining stormshield for Pdr, any thoughts?

Also, Passion Zerk Vs Passion Phase....wich one?

I was also thinking of keeping a HUGE 2 handed Zerk weapon on switch...like...a ceromonial pike? Wich would be the strongest?

I saw a zon using a variation on this, once.

She took advantage of Demon's Limb (I think that's the name) and enchanted herself, and then transformed into a bear with Beast, and THEN threw on an ethereal breath of the dying berserker axe. She said that she did well Vs. melee, but her d. limb was busted (stupid charges!)

Would the passives even work when you were in bear form?

What you are talking about here is a PvP Palazon, and it's not for pubbies. First off, in terms of weapon, a Phase Blade may be fast but it's damage is horrible when compared to a Scourge or Cryptic Sword...believe me I know from a LOT of experience with this build. I have been using Palazons since shortly after 1.10 was released and they are one of those characters that fear nothing in pvm, but for pvp they simply don't do enough damage. Sometimes I do go pvp with friends, and sometimes I even win, but the fun is not in killing your opponent every time it is standing there, perhaps watching them bleed to death, while they frantically try and hit you. I don't know how many times I have heard someone say "Stop dodging damnit!!". In order to kill more frequently I sometimes borrow a friends Grief, I lose out on the Zeal/Zerk but make up for it in sheer damage and kill power.

At the risk of becoming redundant within a day (some of the rumours about 1.11 are VERY scary for this build) I am going to post a much shortened version of my Palazon guide today.
