Zealot w headstriker

Yo, just wanted to know if anyone's made it thru hell with an upped headstriker (or eth?), and if it's viable? The DS looks pretty nice, its like double damage on each hit, but iirc DS comes before CB so you're unable to make a CB with 100% DS right? Maybe you're better off with a higher damage weapon and a load of CB..?

Thoughts?

CB works with DS. But DS doesn't double the damage from CB. They work unaffected by eachother but can trigger on the same hit.

Definitely. Ethereal ones (with Zod) are obviously more effective, but an upgraded Headstriker is more than capable of taking your Zealot through Hell diffiiculty due to that groovy Deadly Strike (which will go over 100% once you're high enough). The Prevent Monster Heal is just icing.

You might run into some issues if you don't upgrade it via the Horadric Cube in Hell, though. If you can't afford the runes to do that you might look into a Nord's Tenderizer (one of my favorite Zealot weapons on the cheap).

In the order of special effects, I think DS comes after CB and it doubles all physical damage, including CB.

My Avenger in 1.09 sailed through Hell with a Shael'd Headstricker - Now that you can up the base weapon it should offset the increased difficulties of 1.10.

The Zealot would probably swing it even better than the Avenger...

Headstriker is awesome .. really, just the weapon alone is scary because people's jaws drop at the DS alone

How do you upgrade a headstriker?

Greetings all. I'm sort of a Diablo II, don't know too much about runes and such. But I was under the impression you couldn't upgrade an exceptial unique to a rare unique, and I thought Headstriker was an exceptional weapon? I'm sure I'm missing something here. I'd love to know though, cause I currently use headstriker and am in Act I of hell.

Exceptional uniques can be upgraded on ladder only.

Headstriker is pretty good pvm wise after upgraded to conquest but it's range is too short for my taste.

I believe you're wrong. CB isn't really a physical attack that can be affected by other means. For example you can't leech from it. See it as just something that removes 25% of monsters life.
