zealbarb!

well, it's been nearly three hours since the last post on this forum and i figured i should write something before i died of boredom.

jordy seems to have inspired me to make a zealbarb. now maybe i should have PM'ed him about this but i figure SOMEONE's gotta know a bit about zealbarbs... right? :cheesy:

anyhoo, just had a couple questions..

-gores or (upped) goblin toe? gores would let me get 65-75%cb; goblin would give 75-85%.
-how much IAS needed for 5fpa with a balrog blade?
-ss or gerke's? (pdiamond in either one)
-rends or IAS gloves? (relatec to the IAS needed question, i guess.)

Ok this is the 3rd time i've tried to reply to this post. Whatever is wrong with these forums is starting to annoy me.

First, no balrog blade. Use a champ sword, it has -10 speed and can get 4 sockets. Will only need 20% ias from gear to have a 5 frame zeal attack.

The only useable 4 frame zeal on a barb would be with a phase blade, which would suck damage wise.

I'd use storm shield & goreys.

Also, if you have 20% ias from somewhere else {highlords...}, i'd use drac's. With zeal you will trigger life tap alot, and the ow is great.

Gores or goblin toe :scratch: , the CB on goblin toe is very nice but the boots lack frw, gores also add DS which doesnt help much since the base dmg isnt super and OW which also doesnt really help.

The balrog blade is a 0 base speed weapon, meaning it needs 38 ias for 5 fpa.

storm or gerke's, i really like gerke's for res, major style and its block, but Storm shield does have 35 DR% but thats more of a pvp mod.

if you have the STR and the ias you could use steelrends, but again because of the low dmg we have, i doesnt add much.
Draculs would be a better choice, mainly because of the lifetap :drool:

yeah, i was leaning towards gerke's to make up for the resists. especially since i find a mara's would be a colossal waste on a zealbarb... which could be a problem, since i have no other sources of +skills from anywhere but my amulet; i'll list my equipment later. i guess i have no choice BUT to put a mara's on him..

i was mainly looking at steelrends for the crushing blow, not the enhanced damage -- mine are, after all, only 30% . then again... lifetap does seem interesting... especially because of the low amounts of life leeched with such low damage. of course, i am trying to obtain as much crushing blow as possible.

-'duress' 1500+
-ss with pdiamond
-dracs
-verdungo's
-gore rider
-seraph's (cheaper than mara's)
-rare ring with AR, ll, all res
-ravenfrost
=30% CB, ~65+ all res in hell, 5fpa zeal

i'm currently leaning towards the CB build, but maybe i would switch out goblin toe for gores after all; haven't really decided yet.

any suggestions? and could you please clarify the IAS part?

all the ias listed in my guide is the ias needed, the passion ias is already included, so '0 needs needs 38 ias for 5 fpa' needs 38 ias and not 38-25=13 ias

you could consider a passion phase blase since it could hit 4 fpa zeal and thus you hit faster and give more CB, since it needs 47 ias you could switch steelrends with wilhems pride gloves and get a additional 35 life.
then you have 15 + 20 = 35 ias and you need 12 more ias, a ias jewel in gerke's or if you use a anni, you could switch mara's for highlords, and hit 4 fpa.

the standard barb gear doesnt really work for a zealbarb, since the dmg isnt very high, zealbarbs rely on CB most of the time.
and again you should consider using a anni and highlords, or switching out arreats for something with +1 to all skills, being IE. peasant crown. crown of ages, shako, lore in a barb helm, delirium in a barb helm, so that you at least get +2 to all skils. and hit 5 fpa

both builds can probaly go a long way in hell, but i just like crushing blow, and dislike the way andy's face looks :lol:
