Zeal, smite, Uber, Question for the PRO's lol

Alright, so i made a 1 pt smiter build, basically a zeal build? But should I even max Zeal and sacrifice? It doesn't add much damage, and is AR even important if I have a Grief, ( With the ignore defense) ?? If I didn't thatd be 39 extra skill points to use else where, without the sacrifice and zeal ? This is a zeal for Ubers (Smiter) remember, just 1pt smite build, but It seemed 1pt was enough for Zeal as well.... Thoughts ??? Thanks!

Where else are you going to put them? There is no where else so you might as well just put it in zeal and sacrifice.

Unless, of course you want to 1 point smite with a hammerdin......

But then that's a Hammerdin no matter how you look at it. The term "1-pt smiter" derives originally from "Zealot with Smiter gear".

    Ok I'm making these assumptions:

    Holy Shield is maxxed
Fanaticism is maxxed and is the main aura
    8pts for prereqs
1pt zeal (enough +skills for 5 swings) is main attack skill
    1pt smite for ubers/bosses
    1pt salvation for Meph
Gear includes grief, fort, gface, dracs, hoz, gores, raven, random ring/ammy/belt/charms

With those assumptions you have 51pts spent, done at 39. If you take it to 85 that gives you a total of 46 more skills pts. Where to put them instead?

    Combat Skills
Sac, Zeal, Holy Shield, & Smite are finished
Holy bolt - Possible to be a healer variant w/Prayer; Undead killing power will suffer w/out 60 pts to invest
Charge - Killing power will suffer w/out 60 pts to invest
Blessed Hammer - Killing power will suffer w/out 60 pts to invest; gear is completely different
Vengeance - possible PI solution w/1 pt(lower mana cost) & 2 maxxed synergies
Conversion - largely ineffective in general, moreso when you have gear like grief
FoH - Possible PI solution (not PI & LI) with Holy Shock synergy

    Offensive Auras
    Fanaticism is finished
Might - Pointless as both Concentration & Fanaticism are superior
Blessed Aim - Possible for passive AR bonus though its not needed with a grief
Concentration - Probably inferior to Fanat since there is no IAS bonus
    Thorns - Really???
Holy Fire/Frost/Shock - Possible PI solution with resist element synergy
Sanctuary - Possible PI solution for PI undead; generally not worth the points though
Conviction - Possible PI solution with the right weapon (like gimmershreds), though you may need to address your chance-to-hit if you have been using the ITD on grief as a crutch to avoid getting any AR. Though you shouldn't need much AR since Conviction lowers enemy defense as well as resistance.

    Defensive Auras
Prayer - Possible healer variant with holy bolt or 1pt Cleansing/Meditation (To actually heal reasonably you might need an Insight on switch to use with cleansing active)
    Cleansing/Meditation - Possible utility skills coupled w/prayer
Defiance - Possible as a synergy for HS to increase defense rating
Vigor - Possible utility skill for getting around more quickly since zealots don't wear nigma
Redemption - Possible utility skill, though dracs & even 2% mana leach should be plenty to keep your bulbs full
Resist Fire/Cold/Lightning - Possible synergies for the holy 'element' auras or for vengeance. Also has passive increase to max resists that may be helpful. (2pts = +1 max resist)
Salvation - Any more than the first point in salvation is largely wasted due to the diminishing returns of the skill

That should give you the info to make an informed decision about the direction YOU would like to take. Personally if I were to stray from the 'normal' 1pt smiter build, I would probably find a Gimmershreds for my weapon switch (PI & IM solution), max conviction, and either defiance or vigor. Defiance if I'm getting hit alot. Vigor if I'm too lazy to run a little bit slower or if I need to be faster to zip around the wall to the ubers without attracting much attention.

Sorry for the long post but I hope you find something helpful in it.

If using the 'exile' shield, does the defiance aura from the shield count as synergy to holy shield? Like how boosting resist lighting counts as synergy to holy shock from 'dream' runewords..

No. It will provide a defense boost on it's own, but it won't synergize HS.

Ok cool, that answered one of my other questions about weather or not it was worth putting skill points into defiance for HS synergy if I have exile.. guess it is worth it :p Thanks!
