Zeal leeching...am I crazy or what?

I always read that to play a Zealot, you never put points into Energy because Zeal leeches 'like crazy.' Now, I just got Zeal, and I seem to be loosing mana, and definatly not leeching it...Am I going crazy???

Considering I'm in Act I Normal, I don't really think that that matters...yet. But really, how do I find this leech?

At higher levels, your base energy will be high enough to replenish itself at a pretty good rate compared to the measly 2 mana zeal uses. My lvl 85 can zeal for a long time vs. phys immunes with no mana issues. Just don't put anything into energy, as you will regret it later.

Hmm, one thing that everyone's failed to mention....

Remember that you can never leach of the skeletons and some other critters. 4% mana steal is more than enough in any difficulty if you're just zealing. If you're in NM or hell difficulty, you need to have a weapon capable of packing some punch in it anyway, so this alone will help you with your leeching problems (provided you have even 1% from some item).

2 words. Vamp Gaze. leech right there. altho at lvls 85+ never need mana leech exept when i fight those mana drain thinggies. i always have a pot ready tho. i think i'm the only person in the world that didnt see janets teet. i was tired during the halftimes show and didnt even see it. hehe

yes I know Vampire Gaze has leech...the original poster was asking for leech in general and was wondering why he didn't leech. I told him one option that might be the reason for not leeching, the others replied about having to have leech in the first place to leech at all (which imho should be the obvious thing).

And at lvls 85 and above, just try it without any mana leech...then try it with one mana leech item, any really. There's a big difference in potion consumption, which affects the need to go to town for belt refill and/or need to pick up potions along the way, which both slow you down needlessly.

When you're at a higher lvl, your naturally increased mana (& more natural regen because of more max mana) should be able to help you a little, especially between battles. It can be very tough to find mana leech items early on. For one thing, mana leech items like rings can be very high lvl req. I think I saw a 5% mana leech ring (magical) set at lvl 46 req. I had a 3% ammy for lvl 11 or 13 though. Just keep playing. It sucks to have to pump potions all the time, but when you're at a higher lvl, things will get better. (and hopefully you'll find a manald or trade for one. - maybe you can make perfect gems and then trade a few for one)

no one has answered the question of HOW DO YOU FIGHT SKELETONS & OTHER NON-LEACHABLE ENEMIES WHEN ASIDE FROM LIFETAP & LIFE ON DEMON KILL?!!!

I think those might be the only ways for a pally, unless u have a bow on switch or use foh / hammers. If you have sanctuary or azurewraith just bust it out and watch the skellies being knocked back when they get anywhere near u. (azure's high magic dmg should already be great for killing them fast) - perhaps u can get a wand with lifetap if you don't want to use dracul's.
