    Your dream band

So lets play make up your dream band. What you do is select musicians and create your own band. It doesn't matter if they are dead or alive. It can be any kind of music, from punk to country to rap. It doesn't ncessarily have to be the greatest of their instrument just people you would love to be in a band together. When you name your musican try to say what band/group they are from. I'll start off by making my dream punk band.

Singer: Either Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio) OR Greg Graffin (Bad Religion)
    Guitar 1: Noodles (Offspring)
Guitar 2: Tom Morello ( Rage Against the Machines)
    Bass: Hunter (AFI!)
    Drums: Darrin Pfeiffer (Goldfinger)

thats exactly what i do. The Offspring are one of the best punk bands ever, in my mind anyway. It just seems that there music just keeps better and better.

I don't really pay attention to specific instruments. I listen to singers and music as two separate things, that's all.

I could pick out singers for you, but I wouldn't pick musicians:
    1. AC/DC's lead
    2. Queen's lead
    3. Disturbed's lead

And as for Offspring as punk...bwahahahha...they be rock. But they are very good, I'll agree. I still have to go buy Americana. Though I think that, in general, it's on the decline. They still have new good songs, but their early albums you could listen to without hitting skip. I can't do that anymore. Sorry for the Offspring hijack.

Eh, I don't have too much respect for Offspring anymore, although Conspiracy of One was suprisingly good. Still, hardly the best ever, and probably not even in that group. Not consistent enough, especially after "hitting it big."

    As for my group:

Lead Singer: Adam Lazarra (Taking Back Sunday)
Songwriter (yeah, I'm adding people in): Jesse Lacey (Brand New)
Lead Guitar: Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine)
Backup Guitar: Chris Cheney (The Living End)
    Bassist: Dan Andriano (Alkaline Trio)
    Drummer: Michael Jiminez (Rufio)

I don't know if Tom Morello fits the rest of the lineup in terms of style of music, but to be honest, I'm not sure if I care. He's amazing enough as it is.

    Lead Guitar: Trey Anastasio (Phish)
Rhythm guitar: Doug Martsch (Built to Spill)
Keys: John Linnell (They Might Be Giants)
    Skins: Dave Ghrol (Nirvana)
    Bass: Paul McCartney (The Beatles)
Cowbell: Eric Bloom (Blue Oyster Cult)
Vox: CANT DECIDE... but suggestions are: John Lennon, John McCrea (Cake), and Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse).
Backup vox: Neko Case (New Pornagraphers), Kim Deal (Pixies). (I dig chick backup vocals)

Wow, this would be a very weird indie pop jam band with wild drums. I would dig it.

(Let Linnell, Lennon, Brock, and Trey write the songs....also Martsch and McCartney can help....but not too much. And McCartney isn't allowed to write lyrics.)

    Mars Volta are teh++

My dream band would be made up of any combination of people from the following bands:
    Tool
    Mars Volta
Aphex Twin (i guess he can take keyboards/mixing in any of the combinations)
    Mr Bungle
    Tomahawk
    Opeth
Reel Big Fish.... right now I'm just listing favorite bands.

Umm, for a quick mockup, lets go for:
Vocals: Mike Patton(faith no more/tomahawk/bungle/etc) OR Maynard (tool) OR Cedric Zavala (Mars Volta/at the drive-in)
Guitar 1 + backup vocals: Mikael Ã…kerfeldt (Opeth)
Guitar 2 (yeah, lets just go nuts for a second): Peter Lindgren (opeth)
    Guitar 3: Adam Jones (tool)
Bass: Les Claypool (Primus, best. bassist. ever.)
    Keyboard/mixing = Richard D. James (aphex twin)
    Drums: Danny Cary (tool)

That'll do, but I feel so bad for not being able to put in all my favorite musicians. I HATE THIS THREAD
