Your closest shave

Inspired by "Stupid death" threads, I figured that some of your encounters where you died could have had a better end on a luckier day.

I had my share of deaths, but all in all, I have been lucky and lived on occasions where death should have been certain or even deserved.

Let these stories be told here:

When I was still playing SP (once upon a time), I left my sin standing in town wearind MALICE claws. On return her red bulb was empty, which gave me a good fright. I totally forgot about the life drain on the claws..but I also forgot you can't die in town...so I basically jumped with my coffe pot in hand from the door to the keyboard, hitting the purples.

A few months later I had a pet project to get my first HC zon not only solo thru hell but also up to lv 99. A venture that was almost cut short when I decided to run Baal at lv 97. In those times, we had no random monsters in act 5 and it was for no apparent reason that I wore my combat gear (with DR) instead of my MF gear. One of those exploding monsters went off in front of me..and for some reason it was the mother of all exploders, taking me down to 12 HP (from 1100). Without my DR gear I would have had only 900 HP and obviously no damage reduction..and I would have been kicking myself for weeks after.

The last incident only happened last week, when a friend was watching me play in act 2 and told me he once died to Coldworm the Burrowers Poison explosion. To which I replied, that only n00bs die to poison from monsters in normal. Sure enough, Radament gives me a good poisoning and my life drops so fast, I am out of any kind of healing potion and just barely make it to town via TP with, again, 1 HP left....my merc actually croaked one step away from Fara :)

Now your turn.
