    Young Characters and Their Builds

    Hey y'all,
Here is a bit of a rant on my part. I don't know about you but sometimes I get a bit frustrated reading some of the "strategy" guides posted on the forums. So often they pretty much are just some variant of this: get to lvl xx then put on your uber leet gear and then you'll kick some ass. Well gee, I never thought of that. Huh, now I know why I've kept that eth botd zerker lying around. Didn't know it was useful for that. PFFT! Useless.
I myself am a player who likes to hit every quest and wp in every act. And generally I won't feel satisfied until I can look at the quest and wp screens and see them completely done. But getting my hammerdin to lvl 80 and then having to do Blood Raven in norm is kind of annoying. So why don't I see more strategy guides that deal with this? Here's what I want to see: so, you want to make a righteous windy dru? Well here's what you can wear use BEFORE lvl 30 and kick some monsters' asses.
So does anyone have any very low lvl setups they use frequently? I personally just love starting an assassin and putting on Sig's boots and pump tiger strike and do nearly 1000 damage in act 1. Let's see the carvers stand up to that.

I have been working on a Tankazon/Palazon/Battlemaid guide for a while now. It covers several build types and dozens of end-game equipment choices. The builds are not cookie cutters so rushing them is pointless, all the fun in playing is actually in playing the game in order. Because it is written with a full game in mind I have included some set-ups for all levels (each set-up is either general or is aimed at keeping the same weapon and bonuses (CB for example) throughout the game). I recently added a low-level Set set-up as an alternative to Sigon Set:

    Sigon's Visor
    Great Helm
    Defense: 55-60 (varies)
    +25 Defense
    +30 to Mana
+ (8 Per Character Level) 8-792 To Attack Rating (Based On Character Level) (2 Items)

    Sigon's Shelter
    Gothic Plate
    Defense: 170 (Base Defense: 128 To 135)
    +25% Enhanced Defense
    Lightning Resist +30%
Attacker Takes Damage of 20 (2 Items)

    Sigon's Sabot
    Greaves
    Defense: 12-15 (varies)
    20% Faster Run/Walk
    Cold Resist +40%
+50 To Attack Rating (2 Items)
+50% Better Chance To Find Magic Items (3 Items)

    Sigon's Guard
    Tower Shield
    +1 to All Skills
    +20% Increased Chance To Block

    Sigon's Wrap
    Plated Belt
    Defense: 8-11 (varies)
    Defense: (10-206) - (13-209) (varies)(Base Defense: 8-11)
    Fire Resist +20%
    +20 to Life
+ (2 Per Character Level) 2-198 To Defense (Based On Character Level) (2 Items)

    Sigon's Gage
    Gauntlets
    Defense: 12-15 (varies)
    +20 to Attack Rating
    +10 to Strength
30% Increased Attack Speed (2 Items)

    Partial Set Bonus
+10% Life Stolen Per Hit (2 Items)
    +100 Defense (3 Items)

I think that's a pretty impressive set of mods for a low level character and it still leaves your helmet and one ring slot open. Of course, it isn't ideal for all builds but it is an alternative to the all pervasive Sigon's Complete Steel. And don't forget that very few builds can afford the Strength requirements, when actually playing compared to rushing, to equip Sigon's at level 6 so they are essentially equal level set-ups. This isn't the only low level set-up either.

just don't read guides if they upset you so much.
Or you could always make your own that aren't setup like that

I think the thread starter as a point here but frankly I don't think that people who write guides do it on purpose. I can assume with a certain degree of certainty that people that usually write guides have an above average to very good knowledge of the game. The case being, leveling a character at low levels do not represent a problem for them and this part is completely evacuated from guides which is not necessairly a good thing. In other words, most guides are blue prints for making a character more than leveling strategies.
