Re: You know what the only good thing about The Dark Knight was?
There is romanticizing from the past, but there is good reason for it.
The Dark Knight suffers from the same problem a lot of movies have these days. I mentioned earlier the problem with Batman's voice being too 'death metal' to the point where it ruined the movie for me. You could tell the makers were just hitting the Macho button in a vain attempt to make the movie better. I'll bet some smart movie worker had a more reasonalbe tone for Batman's voice, but then the director comes in and says, "Naw, hit the Macho button again; we want this movie to bring in more money." So they keep hitting the Macho button until batman sounds like a robot.
They can hit the Macho button all they want. They could get Batman to be on steroids, and they just keep feeding him more and more steroids until he is the buffest dude in town. They could make his voice as macho as they want, and they can make his eyes blacker and blacker, and they can give him a Bat Transfer Tuck. They can put all the fireball explosions in they want and make them bigger and better. But all this masculinization doesn't really make the movie much better. A good movie requires old fashioned good writing, good acting, a good crew working on it, and some originality.
The Dark Knight had some of these good qualities, but I still felt it was just some computer guys hitting the Macho button as hard as they could.
Older movies actually ARE better IMO, because they didn't have access to all the computers, special effects, and huge budgets of today. Older movies had to rely on good plot, story telling, acting, ect.
