You GOTTA go see Dawn of the Dead!!

Ok.... so I just saw the movie today, and I gotta say, this is a REALLY well done remake.

Now... it's been updated of course, but I was completely impressed with the action in the movie, the tremendously good special effects, an excellent mix of tension, scariness, some humor, etc.

I don't want to say anything because I don't want for there to be spoilers mentioned. But... if you haven't gone out to see the movie yet and love horror movies, this is one of the best ones that has come out in a LONG time.

Has anyone else seen it yet? What are your thoughts? (If you mention anything specific though, give a spoiler alert out of courtesy).

my friend's brother had a little dvd preview disk that showed the first 10 minutes of the movie and ever since my friend saw that he's been telling us EVERYDAY "DUDE WE HAVE TO SEE THAT MOVIE!!!!"

its the part where the girl eats her parents.

oh man that made me go weird for a second. At first I didn't read what you put in the quote and it was thinkin to myself, wow this guy must be on crack or something. Then I looked at what was in the quote and saw pants and thought oh man did I put that I mean be on crack or something. Then I looked up at my post and realized you just read it wrong.

Actually, the shopping mall music was perfectly done in this one. In particular, there are some very subtle, but funny nuances if you catch them.

Also... there is a very funn part where a pretty well known recent heavy metal song is done into a lounge song. The comedic timing was perfect.

I heard is was laughably lame. This girl at work told me it was the worst movie she'd ever seen... It does look quite appealing to me though... Maybe I'll check it out sometime.

it was.... ok. The first scene's in the house and the town were great.. but after that, it got a little... too manufactured i guess. I just think nowadays horror movies are missing something that makes they truly "horrifying". I dunno how to explain it.. it's just a feeling really. But overall.. i thought it was an "ok" movie.... got a few decent jumps out of me.. good comic relief, but was lacking the "true horror movie" quality.

I just watched the original today

wow... its horrible, why would anyone remake that?

I'll probably watch the new one anyways just to see if they improved on the laughable lameness of the original.

Just got back from it. Excellent. Super excellent. Best horror flick since The Ring. Wasn't too scary, just a lot of make-you-jump stuff. But the humor was all dead on (pardon the pun).

"Burt Reynolds" made the movie though...lol.

I had free passes, so I didn't pay for it. It was not a movie that I would see again or buy on DVD. I did like the cameo apprearances from the original. What I didn't like was the lack of character development. There were just too many unnecessary characters. I would go into depth more, but I don't want to post spoilers. Also, I didn't feel the sence of dread as I did with the orginal. Just make sure to stay through the ending credits. I didn't, I never do and I missed the ending.

Stickles, something that you have to remember was the original was made in 1978. There was no such thing as CGI to make special effects. Sure the effects were hokey, but for its time, they were really well done.

yeah... but why it was lame had nothing to do with the effects... it was like they didn't even try to make it scary. It didn't seem like a movie that should fall under the horror catagory, it was more like a comedy that happened to have zombies, and if I hadn't seen it with other people it probably would have been a really lame comedy at that.

It was hilarious when the guy slaped the zombie though.
