X Men Origins

So who exactly is the leader of the X Men? Wolverine or Cyclops?

In cartoons and comics, it's Cyclops. Portrayed as charismatic and a genius.

In the movies the leader is obviously Hugh Jackman. Cyclops was just a Calvin Klein underwear pretty boy who looses his girlfriend to a caveman and lost the leadership also. Basically he was a failure. The most damage he did with his optic blast was shooting at the lake in X3.

The movie would be better if they cast Lindsay Lohan.

I take it your a Cyclops fan lol. Your hero not getting the recognition he deserves?

Anywho movies are very rarely like the comics. The sooner you come to terms with that the better.

Then why don't they put Thor, Hulk, and Iron Man as part of the Xmen if movies doesn't have keep the essence of the story?

From what my dad tells me (he was a comic book fan in the 70s) Wolverine did not have the popularity that he does today. For some odd reason a lot of people have taken a big liking to Wolverine; the movies are taking advantage of that and giving a popular character a larger role.

I honestly don't see why people like him. Wolverine really is one of the less interesting heroes that are part of the X-men.

Because it's called artistic liberties. The Spiderman movies has them. The Superman movies has them. The Batman movies has them.

As for putting Hulk Thor and Iron man in an X-men movie. You do realize they have all crossed paths in the comics either on the same side or opposite eachother right?. If there is money to be made from pairing those up there is always a possibility to see a movie mash up. Anywho your question is a bit ridiculous. Just because Spiderman now shoots web out of his arms instead of his invented web shooters doesn't mean they should start putting Dare Devil into the movies too. See how ridiculous that sounds?. Probably not. You came to make a point and failed atleast with me

Wolverine has an insane size of a fanbase following more than any of the other X-Men heroes. You can contribute that to a new generation of fans if you like. It's only a minority like yourself that prefers the old school X-Men storylines. It's natural to hate something that becomes mainstream and suddently creates huge popularity.

I just want them to make movies of the superhero shows from the 90's, those were the golden times of superheroes.

I just want them to get the lore right. I don't care about changes to the story and who's the current leader of X-Men. I still can't get over the fact they made Juggernaut a mutant in the third installment. It's when they change the lore that gets to me. I'm quite sure i won't like the changes made to Deadpool either.

I can understand they tweak the storylines a bit to fit the big screen but there is absolutely no need for changing the characters. In that regard i can side with the OP.

Wolverine is the only interesting or even remotely plausible character in that series. The vast majority of the X-Men are lame as hell. You won't be seeing a Jubilee movie.

Cyclops is a ponce, but he's the leader in both the comics and the movies. The FOCUS of the movies is on Wolverine, but at no point does he lead the team.

As to why he's the most popular X-Men, it's because he was one of the first mainstream "shades of grey" types of characters. He was a badass and he killed people. Same reason people like the Punisher. Nowadays almost every comic character is conflicted and violent (to an extent), so it seems like Wolverine is trite and uninteresting. But for a while, he was the only member of that category.

Re: X Men Origins

my personal view of "cyclops vs wolverine" and other x-men stuff:

cyclops:

I do not like him. of the "comics" (tv shows only) i seen of him, he is a "goody-two shoe" and sappy "popular guy". i do not like his character that is given to him. he is too "elitist" or "school-president'y" or politician-like. he just seems like some "rich snob or socialite like many celebrities" and i don't like such people. his power is really lame...eye beams...meh. nothing exciting or cool to me. and in the tv shows that i watch, they give him way too much power. oooo eye beam shot...saves the day....SAPPY and LAME.
if he's not like this in the actual ("print") comics, than maybe i'd dislike him a little less.

wolverine:

"bad boy". right there makes him a winner for me. than add in his animalistic nature. very raw and base animal instinct behavior. another win. now add in his power, the adamantium (indestructible) bones and those claws (and his healing/regeneration)... yet another win. yes, the claws and the adamantium bones isn't real, but it DOES mean HE has to physically do everything himself with his own body and ability. yet again another win. having to do stuff yourself with your own body and hands (well claws) is way cool in my book. it is akin/analogous to the "batman vs superman" question. batman is more real and more aspiring. he has to struggle since he not a "superman" (pun intended). whereas with superman, how do u not suceeed at everything u do? you're superman. anyone who is superman can be as successful as superman is. but not everyone can struggle and train and dedicate themselves like batman and be successful and save the day. well this nearly identical to wolverine and cyclops. cyclops is like superman. remove goggles....eye beams...problem solved....meh...lame. where wolverine has to struggle. he has to use his own body. no eye beams. he has to run jump take abuse get up close and struggle in fights. much more inspirational to me and thats why i like wolverine.

besides wolverine (and magneto. i like him too. just remembered about him), the only other x-men character i like (at least off the top of my head) is the dark phoenix (jane grey). see below about the dark phoenix.

in the tv show series of x-men, they had the "dark phoenix saga" which was way cool. where jane grey becomes the dark phoenix. that was way cool.

i can not stand professor x. ughn!

Re: X Men Origins

I like Wolverine because when he fights people he kills them.

If Cyclops come up against some human enemies he does some lame **** like shot their weapons away or make a wooden beam fall on them so the moral message doesn't get messed up.

Wolverine doesn't **** around. If you come at him with a gun he shoves his claws through your torso or cuts your head off.

Re: X Men Origins

My favorites were always Nightcrawler (who's more on the bad side, or at least outside the team, in the movie treatment) and Colossus, who's just one of the kids in film.

But hell, it's an interpretation of a comic book!

Re: X Men Origins

Cyclops is the "team leader"

By the way how many time did he even use his power in the movies?

In the first movie he went to a train station but he never did any use there because as soon as he stepped through the door the frog thing took his glasses. Causing him to shot a hole in the roof.

IIR, in the first movie he scared off Sabertooth by shooting at a log, unintentionally shooting at the train station ceiling, and shooting at the metal straps that holds him and Jean Grey.

In the second movie he got his shot off twice with Lady Deathstrike and Jean Grey. err...that didn't come out right.

In the third movie he shot at the lake and then died.
