    WWsin vs melee chars

I'm still leveling my char, never played with Assas before, but I'm trying to get her equip at the same time.

I understand that in melee duels it might be better to go from claw/claw to claw/shield, since weapon block doesn't act against melee attacks (does it work vs guided arrow btw?).

I know Storm a great shield, but for a little more damage I thought a Jewelers Tower shield of deflecting socketed 3 psn facets could be could too. Tell me if this is noobish though.

On the DR side, I have 15% from verdungo & 10% from CoA. With fade lvl 32 is it enough to get me 50% DR in pvp? In that case I could consider socketing the CoA with 2 psn facets too, instead of Bers. I have Kiras for high res ves casters.

    Thanks for any help :)

Weapon block works against melee. Where did you get the idea it didn't?

try to get a 60% WB because you must kill those smiters!!!

if you got 25% DR from equp then you`ll need lvl 25 fade!

for melee only duel get bramble!

Ok I guess I was confused about the melee blocking thing.

Does anyone go for claw/shield WWsin in melee? I gues the extra 15% block isn't worth it?

Thx for the anwser about fade & dr TheKing. Do you people recommend I socket that CoA with psn facets then?

Facets in a CoA = minimal damage gain. You're better off getting another 30 res all. It's always good to increase damage. But the life saved from 30 res is much more.

WB = 60% Block with no dex requiered + it maintains while running.

SB = 75% Block with moderate-high dex requiered + it's reduced while running

    WB>SB :)

    WB is zero while running.

Ok Thankyou for answers everyone ! It was a great help. I will still be casting fade in melee for the DR, so I will have a high +res and can afford to socket the CoA (30 res btw) with facets I think.

the reason a shield might be better in melee is that zealots hit a lot faster and harder than smiters do, even with grief (mayhap, ESPECIALLY with grief). 75% less damage is good because its gonna take that zealot about 2 hits to kill you if one is a deadly strike. I am assuming grief zealot and I have dueled some top wwsins on ladder. I use stormshield/coa and my gear stinks for the most part (need rebuild and better charms), and I have lost once to a ww sin. I am not saying you won't do better vs. lower resist exile zealots, though.

Are you sure? I think I read somewhere it would maintain all the way, beside I forgot to mention you can block certain skills with WB.

Absolutely 100% sure. This comes up here about every 2 weeks or so. There is no doubt at all. It does not block when you run. This is one of the reasons why moving with teleport is so superior to moving by running.

More hit checks per ww, higher vitality, and ability to block elemental attacks is better than 15% block.

Does weapon block still work if you're walking, though?

No it doesn't work if you're walking or running.

    It does work when whirlwinding.

hmm, this is something I've never been sure about, but can you actually block while ww'ing?
E.g. a barb using a shield where he has 75% chance of blocking. He now make a long ww and a GA ama shots GA's at him. Will he block 3/4 of those or will all hit?
The same question where Assa replaces the barb. :)

75% less damage? I presume you mean Damage Reduce? DR is capped at 50% max... different from Resi and there is NO WAY IN HELL you can go over 50% unlike resi where you can equip +% max resi items.

CoA... I was very well thinking of this but switched to Griffon's... 2x Ber'd one can give you nice DR though, and with SS you will have maxed 50%.

If a Zealot kills you in about 2 hits... that's just weird. Even with Deadly Strike, it shouldn't kill you in 2 hits unless he has Open Wound / Amp going for him at the same time. especially since Assns are suppose to have great life pool (1 Vit = 3 HP) with BO you will be able to tank Zealers fairly nicely.

Zealers have never been a real problem with me in PK's... I run a Bone Nec, Light Sorc, and Windy Druid, and really, I find them pretty easy for the most part. They can be Very strong though. (barely dodges flames)

It never did and it never will.

Hmm I was just wondering the same thing... I know that WW speed is affected only by FRW, so I assume it's "moving" without any movement spells like Teleport or Leap... So I'd think no, he will block 1/4 of all those GA's.

75% less damage means more block. as in, 75% block with something like a whistans. it gives you less hit checks, but its a greater chance of survival vs. top end melees like good zealots or fury druids. as far as that goes, I have a zealot on ladder using grief. without a deadly strike, I hit a consistent 1k pvp hit. if I get a deadly strike, its about 1.7k or a little more. since most sins of the type have something like 3k life after bo (roughly), then thats pretty much a 2 hit ko. I know I am not the only one that uses grief out there,e ven if I do have one of the odd builds for doing so.
