He should win. Here's why Bush and Blair were nominated:

"they got rid of a dictator and made the world more safe," he told Reuters on Friday, sticking by the choice. "They got rid of a madman."

Cant argue with that.

Or do you guys think Saddam Hussein was little miss innocent getting picked on by the "evil imperialist racist neo-kkkon USA and UK!!"?

You know, this article should make you think twice next time you say "thanks to Bush, the world hates us!"

That's disgusting. If I were to pick the last person in the world who should get a peace prize. Sure.. let's nominate a guy who STARTS wars... that's a good candidate for a peace prize!

I think Hellfire is Bush. It would all make sense, wouldn't it?

I don't think starting a war should let you get a Nobel peace prize though. I mean, I think it's great that Saddam's gone, but it wasn't that peaceful.

Yeah, they should give it to Yasser Arafat...you know, someone who's actively working to bring about peace in our time.

Nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize ... gee I wonder why?

Oh yeah, I just forgot. Let me see ... where is that book?

Aha ... here it is.

(Flipping thru the pages) Yes it is all clear now.

War is Peace
Freedom is Slavery
Ignorance is Strength ... George Orwell 1984

hmmm...back of Hellfire a little bit here...I can see a point to it.

@anakah1-Bush didnt start the war.

I can see a point to nominating Bush, he pushed the war that caught one of the most feared dictators of the last decade. Its kinda ironic that you have to go thru a war to create peace....very ironic indeed sometimes.

Now llad, you know that this is just doubleplusungoodspeak. 1984 refers to a Socalist dictatorship. We live in a Capitalist one :D.

The article seems to do much to debunk Bush's claim to the Nobel Prize:

Lundestad said many people wrongly believed being a "Nobel prize nominee" was itself a kind of honor.

**** dictator Adolf Hitler and former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic have made it to the list -- every member of all the world's parliaments, university professors from law to theology, ex-winners and committee members can submit names.
and also

Nobel watchers say Bush or Blair's chances of winning are close to nil. The 2002 prize went to ex-U.S. President Jimmy Carter, who argued against war. The head of the Nobel committee called the choice a "kick in the legs" to Bush on Iraq.

Why Jan Simonson is the only Independent in Norway's Parliament makes very interesting reading. Not sure that I would like him to nominate me for anything.

Simply, I feel that this is pretty stupid, but then that should some as no surprise to anyone. As others have said, this is a Peace prize, not a 'We saved lives in some peoples opinions because we went to war' Prize.

Somehow, I dont think either of them will be getting it this year. Or any other for that matter.

Next we'll find out Homer Simpson has been nominated for the Nobel Prize in mathematics.

This is absurd. But then, I wasn't aware that Hitler was nominated once, so I guess the nominations shouldn't be taken too seriously. Hopefully the winner will merit the award.

Really. Who invaded who? Iraq had no WMDs, was not a threat to America, made no move to invade America, they had nothing to do with 9/11. Bush declared war. Hence, he started it.

The United States has not delcared war since 1941. In fact, the U.S. has officially declared war only 6 times. Interestingly, once was against a political entity, not a nation; the Barbary Pirates.
