Wot to do with 5sox sup eth Cryptic Axe?

Was thinking about making Obedience in it but has no IAS, so bit worried my merc might be too slow with it? And Obedience may be better in a different polearm?
If Obedience is a bad idea, any other suggestions of wot to do with it?
[my character is a Zealot and would be for his HF merc (or could switch to Might merc)]

    Thnx!

Obedience if you're using the Holy Freeze merc.
Doom if you're using the Might merc.

Superior and Ethereal? I'd like to see a screenshot of that.

Can't do it from here but I'll try and put a pic up later.

Your msg suggests to me that this is really quite a rare item (in the traditional sense of 'rare') but when I offered it over on the trade forum I got no (zero, zip, nada, etc) offers! So rare but not valuable?

Sounds valuable to me. I guess it doesn't really need a screenshot, but what's the damage on that thing? It must be pretty nice. I would think it would make a pretty sweet weapon.

5 sockets being max allows Lazaruk too add them, making it less rare, however sup+eth is rare enught alone so it still has a nice value, assuming the sup mod isn't really useless (like edura for example).

Obidience is great even without ias, go right ahead and make one, the runes are cheap anyway

    LoL

Damage on my ethereal cryptic axe: 230-1057
Pretty good for those cheap runes that go into obedience.
Give the merc Andariel's Visage to cover the IAS part, and your merc will be good to go :)

    15 ED +3 AR.
Pretty spiffy weapon. A weapon like that deserves a Doom in it.

I don't see why you couldn't Obedience it on a Might merc. My Zealot's merc rolled with an eth Obedience Thresher once, he ended up pulling off 1500-7800 damage. Andy's Visage + IAS jewel should make up plenty of the lacking speed, but don't forget you've got max Fanaticism running under your feet. A paladin that uses Fanaticism can get away with a slow chunky weapon for their merc. I wouldn't be surprised if he cranks out 5k to 12k+ max at almost the fastest Jab speed, if you threw in a Fortitude into the mix too.

But then again... Doom would make for a better choice, even if it does lack the CB, resist, defense, stats, FHR (!), and CTC Enchant (plenty of AR). As a Zealot you should have enough CB yourself, and HF aura + Freeze target+3 mod (Cham) would make for some serious crowd controllage.

If you've got the runes, Doom it.

This is worthy of a doom ! Heck i know some NL freaks actually re-rolled their Dooms when they got a Eth CA like this.

Thanks to all for your help & advice.

Think I will Obedience it for the time being (as I can just about afford that!) and can then empty out and convert to Doom when I've become rich enough (or the ladder resets and I can use NL runes).

PS to k/t - so I got the wrong tense, I should have said it WILL HAVE 5sox, what are you, an English teacher?! :wink3:
