Is there a way to play Diablo II LoD in window mode?

If so would someone mind explaining?

    Thanks!

In the short cut for your diablo 2, type -w behind diablo2.exe
    Like:
    C;/Diablo 2/Diablo II.exe" -w

    "C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe"

i have that, but when i try to put -w after it, it says that this isn't valid. Im doing this through rightclick-properties. am i suppose to be doing it another way?

    Thanks!

You have done nothing wrong it seems...
I will tell you the complete way to do it...
    1. Locate your Diablo 2 folder. (Say C:\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe)
    2. Right click it.
    3. Press "Create Shortcut"
    4. A shortcut should appears next to the Diablo II.exe.
    5. Right click on the shortcut.
    6. Press properties.
    7. On the target line, type in:
    "C:\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -w
    i.e. in your case:
    "C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -w
(Note there is a space after the quote mark)
    It should be working now.

there's an outside shot that you might not have increased the resolution of the game? choose 800x600 instead of 640x480, and that might get you a little more real estate on your screen.

Playing window mode annoyed the hell out of me. Far too small (since my screen res is 1600x1200).

yea, the only reason i'd play window is maybe to check netstat to see what ip i'm on if i were clone hunting. other than that, full screen all the way!

Are there any program (not considered as third party program for Diablo II of course) that could help playing in a bigger window?

I just got a widescreen monitor with 1680x1050 and I don't like playing in fullscreen anymore. And in window mode, the window is very small. Darn.

Let's say a program that creates extra virtual desktops of many different resolutions (as virtual monitors) where the game could be launched in full screen in a "new virtual monitor".....

It wouldn't be a bad idea for Blizzard to include in a future patch in video options: "Real Resolution" and "Size Aspect". Size Aspect would just have 640x480 and 800x600 (for LOD), while Real Resolution many new resolutions for windowed mode and full screen.

Any program out there would be third party since Blizzard does not have such an app, and wil not likely produce one.

if you've got an Nvida gfcard you can use nvida desktop manager too create multipe desktops (of different resolution if you like). Also anyone playing in windowed mode might find this usefull.

a mac can switch between full and windowed mode for any application (including d2) by a pressing a cupple of keys I've heared.

Well, I didn't explain myself quite well. What I mean in the parenthesis is a "Diablo third party program", those considered illegal. The program I look would be for any use under windows, so, avoiding any legal problems while u play Diablo II, playing of course 100% legal.

BTW, I found a promising program, I'll try it hoping the best.

Thanks Kijya, I don't have an Nvidia card, it's Ati and without drivers support  I use a laptop with an old Ati IGP 320 chip. Actually I had to use a third party program (OMG), tu make the latest catalyst driver compatible with my laptop and be able to set my screen to 1680x1050.
