Wind Druid Question/Help

I've ready some guides on wind druids but they all suggest:

20 twist
20 tornado
20 hurricane
20 cyclone
20 oaksage

I was thinking of replacing twister with arctic blast to deal with PI. has anyone tried a similar build and has any suggestions on gear or experiece.

I'm quite rich so name all the best gear and I will probably have most of it.

I also need some survival tips because I had a friend lend me his druid and I couldn't really clear the WSK Hell.

He had the usually set-up but not very good gear. He said it took him a long time to clear it.

any suggestions will be greatly appericiated

thanks you

theres a really good wind druid guide in the druid forum, near the top of the page... i recommend you read that for gear, etc.

as for dealing with PIs, hurricane does both physical and cold damage, although im not sure if the cold would be enough.

I understand Arctic Blast is bugged right now. Something about it only does 1/3 of the listed damage, or some such. I'm sure someone else will come along and have more information.

Wind Druids are fun. My first SP char was a wind druid. The first 24 levels will be kinda slow until you get your main skills going. Twink a lot until then, I guess.

Hurricane with enough +skills should take care of all the pure PIs, and there aren't THAT many monsters that are CI/PI. Even if there were, Arctic Blast wouldn't help much.

Personally, I think the pathfinding on tornados is kinda weird. I usually have to cast a few, then reposition myself until it hits a monster pack just the right way. Resists are fairly worthless as, I think, cyclone armor doesn't count resists, positive or negative.

What specific problems did you have with your friend's Druid?

Well, Hurricane should deal with PIs, so long as you can actually get them to stand in it--I always had great difficulty aiming a Hurricane, which isn't helped by the fact it actually seems to lag a little as you move (e.g. you start moving, the Hurricane ring starts moving a second or so later and is thus in a different position while you're moving than it will be when you stop).

As Lacerta already said, Arctic blast is bugged and does about a third of it's listed damage.

Stick with you're hurricane and since you will probably want a merc, I suggest hiring a Holyfreeze merc. Equip him with a Reaper's toll and most PI's will vanish(decrepify).

fenris(with a fancy f) has a wind PvP guide at the Druid forum, there is probably a good chance it works well in PvM also. At least the equipment selection looks pro. You could of course neglect %PDR and substitute with more +skills or more fcr(see the guide for breakpoints).

As forcefeedback and Lacerta already said Arctic blast does 1/3 of its stated damage. Also you need twister for its synergies so that you can get your tornado (supposedly main skill not hurricane) to 5k+ and hurricane(PI backup) to 3.5k+.

You'll also want to put 1 point into grizzly

For surviving you'll want to have hurricane on all the time. When you see some enemies, run around them in a circle so that your hurricane gets a chance to freeze them, your grizzly should be there by now along with you a5 merc with flamebellow/doombringer, shaft, gaze and then you can spam tornado. Make sure you always have cyclone armor and oaksage on as well.

For gear, get as many rez, and +skills items you can get. so like maras over mahim oak cuiro cuz its got more rez and +2 skills rather than cuiro's +1
Try and find elemental gc's as well, 5+ should do the trick. My own windy druid uses earthshaker for the +3 ele skills, enigma, Ravenlore, maras, soj, ravenfrost, travs, magefist, ss.

What lvl was your friend's char and what items are the usual "set-up"?

Your hurricane should be plenty strong to deal with PI's. If you want you could use one of the fire skills also but that would take you away form the true wind druid.

I will be attempting one of these with just the elements tree so it could be fun without the boosted life.

note to self: Don't use artic blast it is highly bugged.
