Will THORN work this way?

Hey all,
I need some information if this setup will be feasible...

Max thorn
Max prayer
Max holy bolt

Now, get a might merc.

The idea is to use your merc as the sole attack point. He will engage in the battle and you will sit behind and heal him with holy bolt.

Has anyone tried this? know if this will work? know if the return damage by thorn is also magnified by might?

Any input will be appreciated.

You might want to try conversion as a backup skill for your merc. This build is quite viable.. but in hardcore, you must be very careful.

Is thorns really that good? In 8 player games I mean. Maybe try fanatism? Alot more damage output from merc, dont know about converts though?

I made a HCL Cleric in season one and got to lvl 94 before he died, granted he was more based around Holy Bolt for dmg, but I did have maxed prayer.

I see this as an OK option. I used conversion pretty much any time i couldn't HB things. BTW, having a spell that does like 15k dmg per hit to undead for almsot no mana is no joke. If I had godly equip, 25k would def be reasonable. Oh yeah and you can heal anyone to full red in 1 second.

I think this build would be fun. I woudl add in that armor for your merc, the set armor, I think Hwannin, that gives chance to cast static on being hit, and give him a crescent moon for chance ot cast static on hit. The thorns will work even better! Bets of luck!

You would not want conversion, once the converted monster gets your thorns and then the short timer wears off, your might merc will probally die in one to two hits just from hitting a previously converted monster with thorns. This used to be viable back in classic when you could convert for up to a minute, but the monsters never really followed you that far and ended up having to kill them anyway.

That does not happens anymore... the converted monsters loose the thorns almost in the same moment they get back to normal... the auras last less than a second... that's why you can't aura flashing now... yep... i love the new patch ^^...
 
for throns build i was thinking more like this


20 throns.
20 Holyshield
20 Defiance.

20 smite
20 Fant


Use Amp + Thorns to kill any pvp meleer that comes near you. One touch from your throns with amp on ..........dead pvp melee person..

Amp Wand rather .

usually a Block counts as a hit.......... Meh i dont know im crazy lol.

Thinking of building a Thorn Charger, with a thorn merc if the auras stack? Do they? If not, the might aura would be good for the charge.

going as much vitality as possible and a big 2 hander.
 
Your merc will die... i tried it myself - if theres one converted monster left and i just stand there - the same second it becomes non-converted my hireling swings at it and dies! If i use thorns and conversion in big packs- my merc dies in like 7-8 out of 10 times.... So i allways switch to conviction or fana or something when i think they are close to being non-converted.
