Will there be a Brazilian server?

Will there be a Brazilian server?

Now I don't want to display hate/resentment towards any races but it is very frustrating having Brazilians on the same server as US/CA since not only that they can't speak the same language as us and the fact that a large number of them share the same server as us, but the fact that they just lag.

I'm not saying that foreigners to US shouldn't play but they just need their own server, will Brazil have one?

Re: Will there be a Brazilian server?

Well... I hope that Latin America gets its own server, Brazil's online gamers have grown way too big (which is odd, I think most of them are fictional because I rarely met any real gamers around here). Warsong server in WoW for example, has been completely crowded with brazilians. I still believe they are all fictional because we grew into huge numbers out of the blue.

And yeah it even annoys the hell out of ME (who is a brazilian) when people here cant just speak english. I mean... its almost impossible to not know english if you play online games (I learned most of my english through games and online forums), usually I have to translate what my friends say or what the other foreign people are saying...

But yeah I wish we had our own server, if there is less latency there, then its even better but I am just tired of seeing so many brazilians that dont know squat about english and end up just confusing things around the party.

Brazil isn't big enough to get it's own server, but a server for Latin/South America would be nice. However, it all depends on the market and I don't know how strong of a market Blizzard games are for Latin America.

With all of the WoW loot rolling in the door on a monthly basis, I would hope there would be plenty of servers to go around for all.

I'm brazilian and I understand all the hate about us but I'll only support the idea of a South American server if Blizzard doesn't force all south americans to play on that server.

The same way you don't like to play with brazilians I don't like it too (paradox lol)... its very hard to find a decent brazilian player on the international gaming comunity.

ps: I really don't think that Blizzard will make extra servers, probably just the old US EAST/WEST, EUROPE and ASIA.

Re: Will there be a Brazilian server?

^Ha we are on the same boat then.

When I started playing Diablo 2 I had friends from all over the world. It was very rare to find a brazilian but now they are everywhere and somehow dont know english (which is a REQUIRED language in pretty much all schools) and start messing up and confusing everything with my foreign friends.

They are not bad players but the wall that hit in the communication is rather unpleasing. I just hope that if there is a south-america server we have our own channel because portuguese =/= spanish. There is also this issue where everyone in Latin America speaks spanish but good old "lets be different" brazil talks portuguese.

Plus if the latency isnt lower then I see no reason to play in those servers, example: WoW has Latin America servers now but the latency for me is same as the other realms so... why should I move to that server?

Come on, aren't you Brazilian yourself!?!? How did you learn English? You just said, and it wasn't in the school! :scratchhead:

The truth is, if you want to learn English in Brazil you either need to pay extra classes(too expansive and time consuming for most) or spend "way too much time on the internet".

But yea, I'd hate to have to play in a Brazilian only server. Brazilians have a way of completely breaking the immersion. Most are not interested in the community itself, but only in their own business(that is the reason you don't see many Brazilians in the forums, besides the English skills that is). And by "own business" I mean trying to profit in any possible way, illegal or not.

I'm Brazilian and I share you opinion.
And one of the most nice things about online gaming is the possibility of knowing people from different countries and languages.

Completely right! Always nice to talk with people of other countries.

Re: Will there be a Brazilian server?

As someone said I read a lot on forums and internet, but i usually don't post anything, :)

I registered just to reply this topic.

I'm from Brazil too, and I really hate too translate the conversation to my mother (yes, my mom loves to play and change the "clothes" from her char, woman stuff).

A Brazilian/Latin/South America Server is a great idea to those who don't speak English, as my mom.

But me... I'd hate to play on it.
Cause:
- I think US servers are more competitive,
- I like to meet people from other places
- I can practice the language
- Brazilian player are difficult to handle in a party (much individualism)

For these and other reasons, I think US Servers will always have Brazilian players, like me.

Re: Will there be a Brazilian server?

it's nice to have briazilian server for the region to get lower ping.

it doesnt hurt just to have one extra server for Latin America.

@zebu, u know, u can just hop into the us server if u like it there better.

I suspect if they ever do a South-American server they will stop South-American people from joining US servers, by making it "impossible".

Nah doubt it. Blizzard never restricted regions, it was always possible to play on any server and on any region with all their games, its not like they going to start doing it now.

Well, right now they have a Latin American realm for World of Warcraft so I'm guessing there's a big chance they'll continue with that and have a Latin American realm for D3 too :)

As for making it impossible to play on one...I'm from Belgium, born and raised here but I'm playing on an American realm, I didn't have to do anything fancy to get on so I suspect it will be the same for D3. There were a lot of Europeans playing on US servers too when I still played D2.

I think the only thing that should stop people from playing on a certain realm would be the language, not the country they live in. Perfect for everyone on the realm would be to only allow people that speak the language of the majority of the players on that realm.

Re: Will there be a Brazilian server?

He is wrong :) Blizzard never limited regions since their games are globally well accepted. WoW has a latin american server but I am not forced to play there. Quite sure it wont happen, what can happen tho is that the game detects your region and sets the default server as according to your location but you are free to manually change it.

Where exactly can you change your region in D2? Seriously, it never worked for me, so I guess I missed something there!

But nice to know that if ever one server come to be we probably won't need to play on it if we don't want!

Wow, you say you learned english while playing games and you seem to be very fluent. I'm also inclined to believe that you were educated in school as well because your spelling is near perfect.

As for the non english speakers, I could care less to be fair. I don't really get tied up with foreigners anyway but if I do they remain silent like the english speakers.

I do wonder how people play games without knowing english though. Do they not teach it in school? I hope nobody brings up the "people can't afford education" excuse when we're talking about games (which falls lower in the priority). My real beef is with the asians who can't speak english.

The same thing could be said for the European server, with French and German players speaking their own language. Although I think most of them do use English.

Also, at no one in particular, but it's a bit harsh to attack foreigners just because they're using their own language instead of English. As long as they're not the only guy in the chat room speaking that language, of course.

Some Brazilians love to do exactly that though, no matter the place hehe.
