I hope to see him die. Apart from identifying stuff he was annoying. They made a point in the trailer. "Nobody ever listens"

Yeah, the barb cut him off good. Now let's hope we get to cut off more than his lame comment.

I hope each time Cain starts to talk about Horadrim or about the world some years ago, then the Witch Doctor uses a cool voodoo doll representing Cain and let him agonize and be quiet.

Would be cool and insuperable.

Cain can't die.. Then who would paint the roof on the pandemonium fortress when you aren't looking?

(Yes, that IS why its changing colors!)

I don't think he is going to be killed, Tyrael even sworn to protect him from any harm(Act IV gossip). In my opinion the biggest threat to Cain is his age.

Another thing he is a sage not a warrior or a spellcaster. If I remeber correctly he even says he always led a scholarly life when you rescue him, and thus his knowledge is what makes him impotant, to which usually nobody ever listens.

Wich is exactly why he will die a different way.
Cain can't die of old age, that would be such an anti-climax.

No, something dreadfull horrid will happen to good old Cain. I'm sure of it.

You have a point. Still I am hoping that he will ascend or something instead of being mutilitated by a hellspawn.

L O L @ the comments on Cain's bad behaviour (eg "I hate Cain because of all those times he harassed my chrs, walking up to them, following them around with that exclamation point over his head until you finally break down and talk to him.

THEN, he makes that idiot light quest log icon show up on your screen. So then you have to click that to get rid of it. ")

hahahaha! Thought all these were only my "problems"...lol

Iunno.
He seems to be a very freaky old man at times.
Being very old, but seems to always appear in the act earlier than you.
Perhaps he has a secret spell book that lets him teleport himself!

:eek:

The Archivist, which is based on Deckard Cain's model, has its own custom death animation. Hmm....

It also exploded kinda like the goats.

I sorta hope he really would though. Nothing personal against him; I'd just like to see it :p

Whats with the hate? I think he's a great asset to the forces of light. With his vast knowladge and identifying skills and all.

Re: Will Deckard Cain Die?

I am pretty sure deckard cain died long ago, and the cain we saved from tristam is the Lord of Lies. Want to know why?

The original 3 heroes from Diablo, the Warrior, the Rogue, and the Wizard, all were there for the final battle against Diablo. What happened? The Warrior transformed into the Dark Wanderer, host of Diablo. The Rogue (Blood Raven) became a corrupted Rogue/necromancer. The Wizard became either possessed by evil or enchanted by demonic magic, and transformed into The Summoner.

Before all of them became that way, the NPC's inform you of what happened;

-the Warrior grew slightly mad, he woke up screaming from nightmares, and eventually went to the East.

-The Rogue became dark and distant, and eventually left the Sisters

The Wizard ended up being traumatized by the battle, and he made his way into the Arcane sanctuary where he lost whatever sanity he had left.

Now... this is all information we all know. But there is one line in an NPC text, Warriv's, that is overlooked by a LOT of people. here it is;

"Months ago, I came across a few survivors from Tristram. They said that Cain had gone half-mad and could no longer distinguish fact from fantasy. "

So how come he is suddenly so sane and wise in our quests, survived everything thrown at him during D2 (while he didnt do anything in D1), and managed to gain the trust of everything and everyone? (save for Charsi, who is creeped out by him).

I think Cain either became an enemy before D2 started, or he was murdered and replaced by a döppelganger. Either way I find it hard to believe the demons would slaughter everyone in tristam, yet they would let the biggest danger live.

I think that Warriv calls him insane because most of people don't believe him. They don't believe he's a horradrim...They think he's just a simple story teller, gone mad from all the evil he's seen.

I don't want him to die out of spite, but I always felt a cool story transition would be his death and the return of Adria as a guide and mentor...

I was always more fond of her, anyway.
