Wii without the Wii Remote?

Ok, so as some of you might know due to my earlier thread I recently bought the Nintendo Wii. But when i wanted to play this morning I couldnt get the little hand to move on the opening screen, so I tried synching, which didnt help and now i brought the remote back to the store. So now I have a Wii without a remote. But I do have 3 gamecube controllers and Super Smash Bros Brawl, now my question is: can i select the game in the opening screen withou using the Wii remote? It hasnt worked with the gamecube controllers :\

As I understand it from my experiences, the only way to work wii menus is through the wiimote itself or by addons with analog sticks: nunchuck, classic controller, GH or Rockband controllers.

Best o luck.

Did you check the remote's batteries?Maybe they were flat.Or there is this little plastic thingy which is supposed to be removed before putting in the batteries.I always thought customer service is awful here in Namibia, but Switzerland??Unbelievable!

If I were in your shoes, I'd buy Wii play. It's $50, but the game itself is only $10 - the other $40 goes to the wiimote that comes with it.

That'd get you a new wiimote (and you'll want 2 later anyway) and a very addictive game.

50$ but 80.- -_- and yes Switzerland has terrible service when it comes to electronics.
And about the batteries, ÃŽ switched em out but it still didn't work :/

I know it's silly, but did you make sure to put the sensor bar in the right place? Also, make sure you don't have lights reflecting off the TV. That can screw you up too.

I'd just get another controller. Having two never hurts. The classic ones at least seem to be cheap.

Re: Wii without the Wii Remote?

Was there any direct sunlight/light in general when you tried? My TV is set up so sometimes my Wii remote goes under direct sunlight, and that makes it not pick up. Now i have a little mini-Christmas tree next to my TV, and the Christmas lights on that also make it not pick up.

Its weird, but give that a shot.

I think I'm gonna buy a new wiimote, then I'll have two, my only worry is what if it was the sensor bar? then I kinda bought two for nothing

Do you have a friend who owns a wiimote? You could try borrowing his first.

In the US......

Buy a new replacement for every peripheral.....

if it doesn't work, then go back to the store and argue with the manager, he'll cave and you'll get another new set of peripherals. Really, if it turns out to be the receiver, and you don't need two wii motes, can't you return the new receiver?

I'm mostly kidding, but defects do happen, and you can either wait, or just get another one like you planned and then have two (like you will want anyway - which someone already said.)

Most of my friends have wiis. Wii bowling is awesome. There's some adventure game where you battle rabbits, it's great (rayman).

Fighting rabbids with a plunger gun is more fun than it sounds like it would be.
