    Why SP?

Here's a simple question, but I'd like to hear your thoughts:

What incentive is there in playing SP?

    I'll start it off:
Slow modem conns = online games suck

    My own personal incentives....

    ATMA
I dont have to worry about my accounts being deleted, since I come and go from the game every now and then.
    Hacks/Cheats/Dupes are much less likely.
    No PKers, lag deaths, etc.

    But the biggest incentive

The SPF, it inspired me to pick up the game again and keep playing :)

My home computer is not connected to the interent, and I always figured that single player suits me best, considering there's only one of me.

no n00bs running around annoying you.
    can play whenever (no downtime).
mule is very easy and safe.
    the SPF.
online, if you have agood character, you get no credit for it, cause 10,000 other peopel have hacked there way to sucess.
you can play builds that were never designed for parties.
    grailing is simple to log.
we dont cost blizzard any moeny, unlike bnetters, so fi everyone did it, there woudl be more money left over for them to design D3.
we can keep our map seeds for MF'ing.
    there is no timezone issues.
    players X command.
no people who are lvl 4 and in hell baal runs...
    and many more...

nice question here is my answer.

1 you play at your own phase

2 you play by your rule, if you want a char that kills slowely but is so safe that you can go and make a sandwitch and return without the char being scratched you can do it.

3 no immature people can enter your game

4 you get all the drops

5 you learn to play, as you dont relay on a party to handle things.

6 you can make crazy builds without getting idiotic remarks from other people

7 less stressful then the averange game on bnet

8 you dont have to fear cheaters when playing alone in sp

9 you know the drops are real (this is if you play vanilla LOD)

10 you can if you want play amazing mods that wont work online

Here we go [ ]

Well, most of us used to play b-net (ugh) before we made the switch over to SP. There are plenty of ways in which SP is far better than b-net.

Lag- Like you mentioned slow modem= no fun, but even if you have a great modem you will still experience lag and lost connections.

Economy- The economy on Sp is far better than the one on the realms. On the realms, nothing is worth what it should be, and you most certainly are trading for dupes and what-not whereas on SP, the cost of items is based on their rarity and demand, as it whould be.

And the number one reason SP is far superior to anything on the realms....WE AREN'T ALL IMMATURE LITTLE BABIES!!! :uhhuh:

the realms are filled with people trying to scam you out of your items and time, or just trying to go along and PK all the low-levels, then proceeding to say: "HAHA I PWZ YOU ALL NOOBZORS!!!". Plus, if you beat them in a duel or something, they then make a joke about you sexuality, gender, you mom, or something else. I mean I'm sure there are some nice players out the on b-net, but its really not worth looking for them in amongst the swarms of incompetant little dirtbags (no offense to annoying at all).

So all in all, SP and the SPF are much better choices than b-net because not only is it a more mature place with nice people who are always willing to help, but you get the satisfaction of finding or trading for items completely legitely, and best of all IMO, you get to play the game through fully!

    Ok I'm done [/  ]

    -Pb

EDIT: sorry if this was a bit harsh, got some pent up rage

L_W made very good point (see 5.). I have seen so many people on Bnet who don't understand anything about their characters, they just have been told which skills/items are good but very few know why it is so. They just do what they are told to do, they don't use their own brains

Thats quite much everything I would have said, but I want to add one thing:

MFing is much easier in SP

nice question here is my answer.
0 you don't need an internet connection, you don't have lag, you don't be flame by other with a necro.

1 you play at your own phase

2 you play by your rule, if you want a char that kills slowely but is so safe that you can go and make a sandwitch and return without the char being scratched you can do it.

3 no immature people can enter your game, no "pleease, give me" , no pk

4 you get ALL the drops

5 you learn to play, as you dont relay on a party to handle things.

6 you can make crazy builds without getting idiotic remarks from other people

7 less stressful then the averange game on bnet

8 you dont have to fear cheaters when playing alone in sp

9 you know the drops are real (this is if you play vanilla LOD)

10 victory is all for you, and defect also.

I have never played MP. I started by myself and figured I'd get good before I ventured out anywhere. When browsing various forums, there was no way I was going to subject myself to the mentality level I saw on other forums focusing on MP. Then I found the SPF, and knew I was home.

I cannot stress how good play at your own phase is!
for example on night when i was playing on bnet (before i changed to SP)
I go to town ever so often to look for new items, sell my junk, buy stuff, gamble, and repair.
Well i always felt stressed for time on bnet when i went to town and i often got conversations like this one, "Wheres that necro" "Im in town" "Why?" "I got to sell and buy stuff" "Hurry up!" "1 sec" "Now we need tanks!!!!" orb-B**** was slain by monster blah blah blah "STUPID NECRO YOU MADE ME F***ING DIE IM GONNA PWN YOU WITH MY LVL 89 SORC YOU FAGGOT!" wehn i hadnt even done anything other than talk to gheed and charsi for about 5 minutes, and in SP i dont have to worry about all those other grabbers complainers and just generally annoying and mean people on battlenet!

Another advantage - we know all the bugs, and don't have situations where Blizzard claim to have fixed it server-side but didn't.

    Example:

Blizzard: We have now implemented a 10 second delay on hostility and using Waypoints/Town Portals.
HC community: Cool! Now we can go into public games without being TPPK'd!
    <HC_Community was slain by WP_Trapper>
    HC community: WTF?
Blizzard: Oh, it doesn't work. But it'll be in 1.10...

(and you can still get around it... I believe one might, in sarcasm, utter the words 'gg Blizz'...)

You can do that on realms too, but you are forced to use a game that you have set at 1 player max.(when i played on bnet, i used 1 player max on every game unless i wanted to leach exp or get a boss killed i was too low to kill.)

This is probably your most true remark, i agree 100% with you on this... before i joined SP, i had never even seen parts of act3 and 5, now i have seen everything, and i know what i can/cannot handle much much better.

Stressful? dunno what you are talking about here, what is stressful about a game? But i won't make fun of you for getting stressed about a game

but now that i have talked about L_W's comments, to be fair, i will post my own for ridicule.

1.) Leveling is generally slower on SP than on Bnet, on SP you cannot do 25-45 in an hour doing endless baal runs, and 45-75 in an hour and a half in NM baal runs. in group that is.

2.) MFing is generally easier in SP due to quick muling, ability to work with map seeds, and a great forum helping you out when wondering what to do.

3.) You can test certain builds on SP if you want before you make a character through use of the -act5 command, even though it IS frowned upon.

    4.) 1 word, 1 number, /Players 8... gotta love it.

5.) MP games with people who you have ACTUALLY TALKED TO BEFORE! :buddies:

6.) You can't be rushed in SP easily, it can be done, but you need to be hosting a game, and even then, alot of people are unable to host a game. This includes myself, (behind a router here)

7.) No. Downtime. No. Lag. No. Immature People

8.) lastly, no timeouts... you can stay in a game (away from keyboard) as long as you want, without fear of being disconnected, and losing the work you have done getting the next WP, but you haven't quite gotten it yet
