Why put pts into Light res

on a pvp pally why put points into light res when salcvation has a higher per point yield not to mention all skills res??? on the final smiter build guide it says that light res has a nice passive bonus???

Points spent in Resist Cold/Fire/Lightning have a passive bonus.
For every two points spent in Resist Lightning, your maximum lightning resistance will go up by 1% as a passive bonus.
The "standard" maximum is 75%, this way you can bring it up even higher, which is useful especially in pvp.

For pvm I might put a point in resist lightning but most likely i jsut stick a point in salvation as it helps all resistances. For pvp the passive bonus from resist lightning seems to be more important not to mention 1 pt in resist lightning yeilds about 130 light res after +skills over salvations +90ish to all. Resist lightning makes it much easier to stack against opponents like a foh paladin.

On my hammerdin I use 10pts Resist Fire to have 85res while wearing waterwalk, so I never need to switch boots. A further 1pt res lightning and 1pt res cold, and switch when you're about to get hit (after dueling some foh's you'll get the timing right) the 13X extra light res I get from that almost completly negates conviction on it's own. Coupled with the 100+ stacked res I already have, I'm pretty much always at 76 res when they hit me.
