Why Maxing Mind Blast? Swirl Length reduced in PVP?

I am currently making a kicksin that will be basically an anti-caster. What everyone suggests is maxing mind blast. Obviously it's not for the damage. Many mention the swirl length or stun length I am guessing lasts longer. From what it states it is only .2 Seconds per level added which seems like a waste to dump points there if after + Skills it already lasts for 6-7 Seconds.

So I'm guessing the stun/swirl length is reduced in pvp? If it is could someone tell me by how much?

Or is there another reason to pump mind blast?

MB does actually do a little bit of damage, which is a very nice thing to have when coupled with open wounds. the stun length is also very beneficial, as you can hold your kicks longer without having to worry about the stun wearing off.

but i think the main reason for maxing MB is that with more points in it, your shadow master will use it much more. many shadow based sins are accused of gmod or aa because the master mb's so much. it really helps catch defensive casters, and even if it doesn't stun, it throws off the casters timing because they will get a MB on them every few seconds.

of course, you want to max your other main skills before maxing MB, but because most shadow sins have so many extra points, maxing MB is a good decision.

Assuming +10 to mind blast from various sources (you stand to have it considerably higher but it adds damage linearly. I'm also assuming 50% damage reduction cause that seems likely IMO.

1 point mind blast does 3 pvp damage
20 point mind blast does 15 pvp damage

Seems low but thats at 11 frames, it starts to hurt.

I never thought about the kicks thing :).

I knew about the shadow master using it more often and also more mb = stronger shadow master MB IIRC.

So is the stun length still that many seconds though in pvp? It is quite a long time to have someone stunned for up to 10 seconds.

Currently I have enough + skills to get my MB stun up to about 6 seconds which seems pretty sufficient and was thinking about placing all my remaining points into trap synergies to boost up my Lightning sentry damage.

Would that be a good decision are not? I know wearing t-gods will basically turn the extra damage into little fly pecks but isn't it better than the damage gained through MB?

if you're hybridizing, definitely max out your traps before pumping MB. its just that most shadow sins have extra points, so rather than pumping shadow master or something similar, maxing MB makes much more sense.

Uh I guess what I am trying to ask is, will my mind blast be efficient as a 1 point wonder and will my shadow master cast it enough? I am still more kicker oriented and I am using 9x shadow gcs. I thought I might just pump traps since I have a ton of points left. Or is it worth sacrificing some trap damage to increase the stun length and have the shadow master cast more often?

If your char is hybrid then mblast stays at lvl1, you have to dump everything you can spare into traps. Don't worry, base lvl mblast and +skill gear will work just fine. My ww/trap hybrid doesn't even have a point in mb (it's on my Chaos claw) and master casts it often enough.

Put TWO points in Mind Blast. It makes the shadow favor it over the other 1-point wonders or prereqs, but doesn't kill your trap damage.

Ehh Would I be a hybrid still considering I wont use trap gcs so I will have pitiful trap damage?

Peter - Does having that extra point make all the difference? Like will the master cast that one most constantly?

It should be noticably more than the other craptastic one-pointers, yes. (I suppose "noticably" is subjective .. but yeah, you really do want two points in it.)
