Perhaps it would help if you listed the following for both you and your friend:

?level of both lightning and chain lightning
?displayed damage of both lightning and chain lightning

then we could better determine where the difference in damage is coming from

You really do not have enough + skills. With the gear you have i'm surprised you do not have a torch and anni charm both of which will help exponentially not to mention when you get your ammy, and perhaps an soj in your other ring slot. However, I have to agree with the moderator....even with the gear you have and your build you should not be struggling...

theres no way u cant kill meph. I started a week ago my sorce got perfect sanctuary(cheap) occulus (burrowed) Tal helm/ammy/belt wealth armor(150 def pos) 2 nagal ring 23 25 eth chancies 39 mf lol gold boots 23 mf and crppy other stats merc has new made insight cv non eth 17 med with pamethyst durial shell lol nee str to use cv and 6/8 vamp gaze and i can kill meph fine just need pot a bit for merc got 71%block 50/75/75/50 res sanctuary is amazing 70 all resist. just let merc tank as u use lightning or island bug it might take a bit time but killable. o yah using pos necro torch no anni do about 4-9k damage lol can do pindle/countess/eld/shenk/meph fine although i have say my blizz sorc killls meph faster.

U can try to go for 200FCR also.

Grifons, wizzy/hoto, vmagi, pspirit, arach, 2 fcr rings(or one soj, if u pick wizzy), magefist and 10 fcr ammy. Than u can kill meph faster with CB. But you will need torch, anni and lots of light GCs

My lite sorc was awful too. I'm Lvl 84 now and I can't solo mf hell. Sometimes i will still die when i try to mf countess. What can i do to my lite sorc?

Fix those. Give your merc as good items as you can. After that try to make you sorcs items better. Single-tree sorcs needs good merc.
1st priority is your mercs items, you can clear almost all places when you merc can tank.
Those 2-tree sorcs have luxury to use lousy merc, not option for us one-tree sorc users.

Your sorcs items are just fine, I use around same and can do hell baal just fine.
With good items, act2 merc start to survive at lvl85 and above. Those archers hit hard inside tower, merc without good items is just punching bag.

Looking at your gear, your resists might be lacking if you didn't compensate with charms. Survival and killing speed comes before mf.
Replacing skullders with vipermagi will give you more resists and helps you get the safer 105 fcr breakpoint.

Yes, my resist is negative in hell. I just tried to mf meph in hell. I managed to but still got kill by blood lord after taking down meph. Now i'm doing hell countess. How much a vipermagi cost?

Vipermagi is VERY easy to get try trading a mid lvl rune like hel or runes around that level don't go higher than pul though you can get a Stormshield or whatever it is you need with that rune. At least on useast ladder thats the rune I always see people asking for (that and ist, ber, gul).

Yes, i was asked for an IST for a viper on US West ladder. Anyway, which of my gear needed to be change other than skullder? Oh ya, what can i trade for 3x key of terror?

hmmm.. so i now i'm able to solo hell meph comfortably. However to break LI i need my merc to be on Infinity but once i switch from Insight to Infinity i experiences Mana issue (Mana running out too quickly), What should i do here?

Infinity increases your effectiveness by so much that it isn't even funny anymore, so yeah, it's well worth it to have a row or 2 of blues as a trade off for being able to use it.

As per the Andy helm, try the trade forums for a price query.
