Why is my Lite Sorc awful?

Ok so she's only doing 10k damage at level 89, granted she's only half geared but I feel like she should be doing more. Here's what I have...
1 Warmth
20 Charged Bolt
20 Lightnight
20 CL
20 Lightning Mastery
1 Telek
1 Tele
1 Static
4 Nova

I still have to do the skill and stat quests...

I just started gearing her so this is what I've done thus far
Griffons (19/10)
Lite Eschuta (3/20)
35/13 Upped Vmagi
Trang Gloves
Bk Ring
Nats Peace (I want to run dkeys with her)
Nightsmoke (Buying arach soon)
Random Boots (Probably going with Treks)
Lidless (Will upgrade to Spirit Mon when I get enough str)
No ammy (Haven't decided between Tal Ammy and Maras Yet)

Merc is using...

Eth Glad Bane

whoa, thats some sick gear, my sorc aint even 10% close to what u got, but then again I only run meph so I'm good. Theres nothin wrong with ur gear, just do ur skill quests, grab an anni/storch, and grab a couple lite gcs.

your gear is fine, make sure you get plenty of light skillers to boost your damage too.

apart from that unless you did something crazy with stat points like maxing energy without ES, there is no reason for your sorc to be "awful"

Are you using lightning or CL? In my experience, lightning turned out to be vastly more useful.

Where are you having problems? Other sorcs have a very very hard time tanking bosses like meph or clearing baal rooms too, so if you can even remotely do that, you aren't too far off.

Sorcs these days are so badly-built and played its ridiculous. If u go with a mainstream build and cant clear baal rooms(once u have the gear), u should just delete ur char and uninstall D2.

I never said ur sorc is bad, I was just talkin about the general population of sorc players. Theres really nothing wrong with ur equips or skills. U just gotta finish those skills quests, grab lite GCs/storch/anni.

There's nothing wrong with it at all. Period. None of my sorcs have as good gear as yours does, and I have no problems.

I really wonder what you are expecting. You have near perfect gear. I mean your merc even has Infinity. If you ask me, i think you might be bragging? This build is close to perfect. Okay, you could add a load of Lightning skillers to add even more damageand facet your gear, but thats about it!

Uhm you don't seem to understand, the sorc is awful. She can not even solo meph, I'm not bragging about my gear I was genuinely looking for something I overlooked. She only does 12k damage my friend who is only 1 level higher than me using Occy, Shako, Vmagi, Spirit Mon etc does 21k. I just bought Tals Ammy and mine still only does 12k. Honestly I expected better of these forums, I come looking for help and I am treated like some sort of scumbag showoff because I listed my gear. It would be pretty difficult to help without me listing my gear wouldn't it?

Nothing should be awful about it; 12k damage is pretty high, imo. Which skill do you use to kill Mephisto? Chain Lightning works best for large mobs, while for single monsters you should use Lightning instead. It could also be a good idea to Static him down to half hit points before spamming the lightning spells, if you're not already doing that.

So what else does your friend have. Does he have LIghtning skillers maybe to add to the lightning damage. What exactly is the difference in your friends gear. Is he also playing a LIghtning sorceress?

Like Are said, Lightning will be far more effective against Mephisto. Also the damage listed in your skill tree does NOT include the reduction of resistances that occurs from Infinity!

He's also playing a Lite sorc but he doesn't have Infinity and I highly doubt he has Lite skillers. But I'll check next time I see him. He's able to solo Meph easily and like I said before is doing 21k.

I know this but 12k is very low for a lite sorc, even people with ES do much mroe than 12k and they have to use 21 or so skill points in Telek and ES.

I had a sorceress last season that hit 10k damage with her best gear, without infinity. I had no problem killing Mephisto in a 1 player game. She had no problem clearing/partially clearing the throne in Hell Baal runs I ran a few times. With infinity, she would have been unstoppable.

Light sorcs aren't really the best boss killers. I do know that from experience. Try using Charged Bolt right in front of Baal/Mephisto. It usually outpaces Lightning when spammed super close like that.

If still more speed is needed against bosses consider a Lower Resist wand on switch, or a Spirit + Crescent Moon weapon if you can keep your FCR up - 105%FCR preferred. Facets can also help, but both of these options are way cheaper than getting a handfull of -5/+5 facets.

So, that works, if you care to try it out. If it's still too slow then you may want to reconsider builds.

Well I have a pure blizzer to run Meph and of course that's very fast, I mostly want to run areas and keys with this Lite sorc but she just really isn't very strong and I can't figure out why. I guess I'll just have to save up and get some lite skillers.

Is the damage that your friend gives you with the resistances that infinity subtractes, or without? I think there is alot you should ask your friend in that direction.

Also the displayed damage in the skill tree does not account for any +xx% damage sources or reduced resistances. Maybe your friend can give some more input on his high damage and how he comes up with those numbers?

He doesn't have Infinity so it's most certainly without it's just the damage from the character screen he gives me.

You seems to have only +7 lightning skills so far, so that why so low damage
After arach+spirit+amu+anni+torch it jumps up to 20k.
And after you do those missing +skill Qs, its around 24k damage.
You just need some more both in synergies and more +skills.

As first aid just use any +3L amu first (+3L+100 life, +3L+34mf +3L+10fcr or just plain) or that Tal amu, if you need resist.

Every +1 skills adds you damage around 1.5k, so +skills helps a lot.

And try that CM (crescent moon). Much better than your escuta, as you have items to pull that 117 fcr while using CM.

Around 15k while using CM with 117fcr is good enough for any bosses.
You have infy, so even that is not needed.

Get a S Torch, anni and put some points into Nova then you should be doing close to the same damage as your friend. My gear is close to yours minus Griffons (shako) and Eschuta (Occy) and I'm doing 21k light damage now. Without a doubt put pionts into Nova and try to max it by 95 if you plan on taking your sorc that far and you'll be more then happy with the results. At level 80 I was without a torch, anni, or + skills ammy and I was doing 10k - that's how much of a diff those items and nova make
