Why is Fishymancer so good?

Hi,

I am coming back to D2 for the first time in years, certainly for the first time since 1.10 has been in effect. I remember pre 1.10 that Raise Skeleton and Skeleton Mastery were absolutely terrible, and could not make it past Normal difficulty really. Now, with the "fishymancer" build, they are nigh unstoppable. What changed in 1.10 to give skeletons such a steroid boost?

The biggest difference is the dmg. Very much improved! With decent gear youll have around 13 skellies doing 400 dmg each! With amp thats 800.
Think, 13 skellies whacking on baal, 13 x 800 = 10.4 k!
Pretty impressive imo. Defense, ar and life have also been imrpoved.
My skellies are currently at lvl 33 with lvl 35 skel mastery:
399 - 403 dmg
ar: 1020
defense: 1020
life: 952

Skellies also have an insane life regen. That regen really helps their survival.

Lvl 33/35 isn't that high... doesn't even need skillers for that.

Take a look at my own Skelemancer for a possible+cheap setup. There are more expensive setups using uniques that can give you higher levels.

i got mine at i think 40/42 doin little over 500 dmg per skele ... i can solo anywhere in the game with no prob.

I use TO set, Leorics, Marrows and 3 to summon amu.
Dont have any skillers (working on skillers but not high priority), sojs or anni.

Max would prob be:
3 to summon circle
3 to summon amu
2 Enigma/TO armor
2x Sojs
Arachnid
Leorics
Marrows
4 from Splendor (3 to raise skel & skel mastery)
10 summon skillers
1 anni

Final stats: 31 to raise skel and 33 to skel mastery
Total with skill pts: 51 Raise Skeleton & 53 Skeleton Mastery

Is this possible? At least on a wand?

Oh yeah, didnt think about that :scratch:
Then I guess Leorics can be replaced with wand:
3 summoning
3 raise skel
3 skel mastery
(only improved by 1, but if u really want to reach max then this is the one 4 u)

So that'll be: 54 raise skel & 56 skel mastery (like those numbers ^^)

Of course, with gear like that you're probably dead the second a black soul decides he likes you :)

For maximum killing power, you'll also need a merc with +skills --- AFAICS you can get him to +8 (+4 ariocs-AMN, +2 arkaine, +2 shako), for a level 28 might :)

9*11 lit res sc's and a nice pair of gloves with high lit res and youre good to go :thumbsup:
