Why does DII go to the end of the alt-tab list?

It's something that's bothered me for years. It keeps you from being to alt-tabbing back and forth really quickly. Instead, you have to keep hitting tab to get to it or else hit alt-shift-tab, which sounds like it should be easy, but is really hard for me to hit. I like to surf the net or checking prices for trades, and Diablo II is the only program I can remember that does this. Anybody know how or why?

maybe diablo2 is really old now and gets the lower pirority ?

im playing on windows mode. so i juz have to click on my desktop and d2 will get minimised. to get back the game i juz move my cursor to the d2 tab. instead of using alt-tab.

Any program that is minimised get's moved to the end of the Alt+Tab list. You should be able to test this with any program, including notepad. Once you alt+tab out of D2 it gets automatically minimised.

Ah, so switching out of D2 always counts as minimizing it, even though you're not pressing a little underscore button?

Since my browser opens up internet pages within the browser, I just have 2 programs open D2 and the browser.Easy tabbing.

Thanks, Orphan; I never realized minimizing any program did that. :)

Does clicking on the desktop really immediately minimize it? Playing DII using wine under Linux and thought that was a wine (or window manager) problem. Though here i was able to fix this, so i can keep DII running visibly when having some trade game open to wait for someone and i wanna see when he joins :D

Yes in windows diablo will minimize once it loses focus.

Using wine in linux you can just place the window in a 800x600 virtual desktop and you'll not have that problem. My guess is that since you're just clicking on your "real" desktop you're not causing an unfocusing event of the window in the virtual environment set up by wine.

 finally creative got some drivers released for the x-fi soundcards, time to get back to ubuntu once more :jig:
