Why do people care about the meditation level on insight?

People hel and remake insight runewords when the meditation is low, and they pay much more for one with high level meditation, but why? A level 12 meditation is enough for regenerating twice as fast as you spend the mana.

Of course perfectionists want everything to be as good as possible, but people even prioritize the aura level before the ed% and crit level on the polearm!

Yes, but perfectionists should first be concerned with damage, and then the aura level. It's one thing if you opay for a 260% ed, 17 meditation when you had a 260% ed, 16 meditation before, but like it is now people opay for a 200% ed, 17 med when they have a 250% ed, 12 med. That, imo, is a bit stupid, since even level 5 is easily enough

Most people aren't too concerned with the damage, as it's for the merc; the majority of your damage will still be from yourself.

A higher level meditation means you can spend x more mana per second and still be in the green for recovery, or recover x frames faster from a bad teleport into a fanat manaburn pack, potentially allowing you to teleport out in time.

I've always been wondering myself about this too. My first and only insight was 13 lvl aura and perfect 260 ED, but still a 17 lvl aura random ED one was more expensive

I think it's caused by the same phenomenon that leads people to build a sorc that runs around with Eschuta's Temper and crappy resists while leaving their HotO in a stash.

I rerolled a lvl 13 meditation aura insight not too long ago and got lvl 16, and I have noticed a huge difference with my blizz sorc (the only one that actually goes through mana when casting spells) because her mana pool is so small. It also made a difference on my orb/fball sorc when she's spamming fireballs hardcore (still have to down a potion sometimes). Yes, you can make up the difference with lvl 12 meditation and potions, but you can make up the difference with potions and not use insight at all as well.

Not defending people who are all out about the aura lvl since I imagine most of them aren't receiving any advantage from the higher lvl aura thanks to a large mana pool in the first place, but I am pointing out that it can make a difference depending on the gear you're using. Granted, the difference is small, but it adds up enough to be noticeable.

I've never really noticed a difference at all. Most of my pvm casters have 300-500 mana and any insight pretty much give them infinite mana. If I hold down the button long enough while spamming I can eventually deplete my mana pool but it fills back up in a few seconds anyway no matter what the meditation level is.

IMO the damage is more important since it allows the merc to kill immunes easier but in the end, I don't really care what insight I have as long as I have one.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think the synergy bonus to Prayer still works.
Higher meditation means more life/second with a prayer merc.

Meditation does get the synergy from Prayer, but it's based entirely on the mercenaries Prayer's Slvl, i.e. Meditation's Slvl has no effect on life regeneration.

In SP, I finally got a 4os eth thresher. I made insight, and got a level 13 aura and 208% ed. I rerolled because the aura was too low for my javazon who burns through 300 mana in 10 seconds. I need that bulb to fill up as fast as possible. Also, if I switch to FA, I can fire longer before my mana pool empties. Not every character has a big mana pool, so as was said earlier, the aura is important to some. Sure, I could wear more +mana gear, but it would be at the expense of other mods that I need. I want to run, not tip-toe, through the WSK.

Well, generally 'natural' rerolling is the way to go (aka Iron Golem and CS runs).

Somehow my Halberd Insights were always level 17 on first try, while eth elites took pretty long to get decent ED and Med.
