Why did they ever.....

make the Steelshade Helm???

Feel sorry for me please I just got my first one

I have not really gone and looked at the new items in 1.10 as I want them to be a bit of a surprise....now I know why

There is a lot of items added to the game, some of great usefulness, and some that are totally in the realm of rediculuousness. Think Reaper's Toll vs. Tyreal's Might. Its just to say they have added more features, and to make grail runners crazy.

Steelshade is not totally useless, but there are so many better helms out there that it drowns Steelshade out completely.

EDIT: Here's the AS stats of the helm in question.

Defense: 300-345 (Base Defense: 105-149)
Required Level: 62
Required Strength: 109
Durability: 24
+100-130% Enhanced Defense (varies)
Replenish Life +10-18 (varies)
+4-8% Mana Stolen Per Hit (varies)
+5-11 Fire Absorb (varies)
(Only Spawns In Patch 1.10 or later)

I stand corrected, it is totally useless. just get a Tal's Crest and wear a dwarf star. Both are easier to find and more useful than this hunk of junk.

btw, what color is it on your character?

Most new elites items are just there to be there. Some are not usefull at all. Like the dreaded Steelshade. Just there for grail purpuses.

I've noticed the focus on "mod" have changed a lot on the elite items. A lot of them have super high defenses and replenish life whereas leech has been neglected. Blizzard must have had some idea in mind.

I suspect Blizzard decided leech was too powerful, seeing how it is such a sought-after mod. Putting out new items with less powerful mods, and not removing the old ones, does seem kind of silly.

Oh I didn't put it on! Muled it off asap - was excited when it dropped as I didn't know what it was

I'll whack it on later and see what it does =)

steelshade..i must agree..cept for the relatively high defence i would think that the mods are a april fool's joke..blackthorn will take it hands down anytime..prevent monster heal and slow monsters are so much better.. :buddies:

This and some of the other underpowered new items are actually sometimes useful for those of us who play untwinked (use only what you find each game). Especially for mercs.

Although I must admit that many gambled circlets/coronets are even much better than than this helm

This is part of the rumoured 'secret set'. If you wear Steelshade, Isenhart's Case and a Cracked Sash, your character causes all monsters to die immediately through laughing at you.

That would be cool...wear MF gear with those and just run trough WSK to Baal and collect the drops...

10% fire absorb, I don't think it is usefulness.

And when I think 'reaper toll vs Tyreal's Might' the result is I don't have reaper toll.

and like say ED : for those of us who play untwinked.

It isn't 10% Fire Absorb though... just 10. If it were 10% it might be useful. Almost.
