I'm happy with whatever they do. At first I wanted all new chrs, but the barb looks very nicely designed.
What bugs me (like I said before) is Blizzard's favortism towards one chr class. In this case it's the barb. Now, in the more recent d2 patches the pally seems to get all the attention. But in the first patches, barbs were by far the most overpowered. Then, they make LoD all about barbs, you see a barb on Arreat Summit page jumping up and down (I guess he is the Diablo franchise mascot), and the barb is likely the only old class lucky enough to return in d3. Also, we can assume the BARB takes out Diablo in d2 so the BARB is the big hero and the other classes don't have this status. No fair.
I'm worried that they may repeat the mistake of d2: "We here at Blizzard love the barb so much that the whole damn story is going to conclude with barbs coming out on top, plus we're making barbs better than the other classes. You love Wizards? Too bad, we're all about barbs. Barb gets Death Proof. WD gets little froggies".
Notice how the barb in the gameplay video looks awesome and the WD looks ridiculous?
And that statue that came out a while back...BARB. So I can understand why some fans are upset. It's all this stuff put together. Blizzard likes necros and zons less than the fans do, it seems.
All the classes should get equal attention imo.

Having one of the classes be an integral part of the plot, while others were left out, was a no-no. Personally I don't lose my sleep over it. Besides Act V was brilliant and a very fun act. But when reaching this point in time when a new game is being devised, we can see the consequences of such decisions.
I will never argue against the arguments that defend new things should be tried out. How could I disagree. But the problem here is if indeed we are looking at a change for the sake of changing. If necromancers are going to instead be used as a plot devise and need to stay away from players, I can understand. But otherwise, this is one area where I can't agree at all with Blizzard's decision. Even though, and I must insist, I do like the WD concept and this will almost certainly be my first character. It's that Necromancers aren't just any class. They are an integral and very important part of the game Lore, just like barbarians (if not more).

Judging from the detailed pic of Skovos, it's likely we could visit there in an expansion or in a future installment of the Diablo franchise. Then it will seem like Zons are getting all the attention.
Secondly, there is a reason why the barbarian is favored. That reason is Whirlwind. That was the defining skill that set apart a Blizzard melee class from any other gaming company's melee class. It was the marquee skill that attacted tons of players, and cannot be explained in Sanctuary lore as belonging to any other class other than the barbarian tribes. Also having a central character brings continuity and makes it easier to connect events in a progressing story.

Oh i dont have a problem at all. If u want to replay the same classes from d2 good for u! i'd like some new classes thank you very much.

Not seen Cain's journal on the D3 site? Everything in D2 was attributed to a group of heros that traveled with him. Therefore in the lore its all the classes.
You may think he looks ridiculous but not everyone thinks the same. I like the way he looks. And the Barb's homeland had the most important object in Sancuary located there, its obvious we would need to go there over the homeland of any of the others.

I am of the school of thought that thinks all the classes from all the games should be in the game, plus new ones. I want my class selection screen to look like a character selection screen from a Street Fighter game with how many classes I can pick.

After so many games and different classes in all those games what can actually be called new now?
In terms of D3 vs D2 :
Barbarian is a brute force melee class, the name is obvious so they kept the name and it's not the D2 barbarian because there are new skills.
Witch Doctor is a caster/summoner class, skills are similar to the necromancer but once again it's not a necromancer for having new skills.
Wizard is a caster/elemental class, similar to sorceress but once again not the same due to new skills.
Basically the people crying about certain classes not coming back and certain classes coming back don't really know what they're talking about and just whine...just to watch/hear themselves whine.
Diablo 2 didn't start with the classes Diablo 2 has today so I seriously doubt we'll start Diablo 3 with all the classes they (will) have plans for which basically means nobody can complain unless they have a crystal ball
I'm positive that Diablo 3 will have a class (or more) for everyone that loved playing Diablo 2.
