Why can't I hit properly?

OK this is my first assassin and I am a newbie. I read the official FAQ and the FAQ thread here and didnt understand all of it, so I'll just frame the simple question like this:

- I like my assassin so far, she seems very versatile and require a tad bit more brains to use than a barbarian. (I'm a newbie so excuse me if this is all wrong.) I have had no luck with traps so far, they just dont seem to do any damage, but I really like Martial Arts. So...
WHY CANT I CONNECT with my Tiger Strike and my Finishing Moves?
I seem to be able to hit fine when I simply left-mouse click for a normal attack using two blades. But I miss MUCH more frequently when I use Tiger Strike or Flame Fists (the only two charge-ups I have so far), as well as Finishing Moves (which causes me to release the charge now without a finishing move, since I seem to hit better with a normal attack).
In my Char Stats sheet, the AR for the strikes are even higher than my normal attack, I dont get it.
Am I missing something?

I'd think there are 2 possibilities here.

Shift clicking or lag, both of which have the result of you executing the hit clientside, but the monsters moving out of your range serverside.

Ah, lag. OK. I dont seem to get this as often with other chars, hmn. OK thanks anyhow.

Could also be that your Attack Rating is low compared to the target armour rating

Lag has really been hampering my games lately, to the point that I'm not playing my MA sin much.
