Hey guys, before I start I just want to put this post into some context. I took a break from D3 so That puts me behind the curve from players with more time invested. Add to that, that I don't use the auction houses or trade. I like to play these types of games self-found because I find it more rewarding and enjoyable to me.

With that said, we have a bonus XP event going on and I've really started to get back into the game. For instance, I had a monk with 3 pieces of an Inna's set which worked pretty well before the 2.0 patch. Well, post patch I found a blacksmith plan for Demon's Skin and the tighter variance in the stat rolls for these post-patch items made this normally weaker item set even more beneficial than what I had.

Before I get off my intended subject, I wanted to see what sort of strategies people have come up with to take advantage of the patch changes and new gear available. Honestly, I'm a lowly level 77 paragon across my characters. So take that for what it's worth but here is something I've come up with that is paying dividends for me....

First, I focus on gold find; yes gold find. Then, I determine what sort of content (difficulty) I can handle without trouble. I'm using a glass cannon Demon hunter right now for this. My focus is leveling paragon so my highest quality red gem goes into my Mempo and I'm using a post-patch Leoric's signet for XP boost beyond what I get from the difficulty rating gives me. Next, my follower and any open slot gets +gold find. These two pieces of gear is what makes this work, Gladiator Gauntlets (post patch) with main stat, attack speed, crit chance and crit damage plus Custerian Wristguards with main stat, vitality, crit chance and gold find. Those two items have special affixes which are "After earning a massacre bonus, gold rains from the sky" and "picking up gold grants experience".

So now, on top of my XP bonuses I'm getting piles of gold constantly while earning XP point for point. It's win-win.

I'm sure you guys running at much higher levels have other tactics to share so please do. :)

Honestly, I'm not. Because, I mean, what reason do I have to play this game other than to slowly level up?

I'm in no rush to exploit Mira (or whatever) to get shot up to paragon XYZ. Once you cap your stuff.... life becomes boring, fast. What are you going to do, level your paragon 300 crusader to 60 in a day? Then what?

It just sort of strikes me as empty. Not to belittle your tips or anything. They're all good stuff. But my most sincere advice is to not sweat a month of bonus XP, and to just do what's fun.

Well if the developers were smart they'd introduced something where "upgrades" were meaningless since that implies you are staying with one build. Instead, If they employ different avenues or "rewards" and "progression" we're talking a whole different type of meta. I like this sideroad of advancement I stumbled across and was wondering if this new patch somehow permeates the game with a new philosophy but I have a really small sample size when it comes to drops right now.

Player feedback to me is much more desirable but I'm limited in how much I can observe. I hoped this thread might give me some insight since over the 15+ years I've used this forum, I've found that some creative people stop by here.

I tend to ignore all the runs people are doing, because they get boring very quickly. What I usually do is do a complete game clear, reset my quests and start again. I'm not doing this for the guaranteed Legendary from Diablo (previously from Leoric), but because it's the most fun for me and rewards are good enough that I don't care about anything else. Also, I'm in the IncGamers HC clan, where we tend to announce if we find a Pool of Reflection or Cursed event and share it with others. When 100+ people do this it can be a nice boost for everyone's XP bar.

I decided to level a few more HC characters before RoS launch. I am now leveling a Barb. It goes faster than it previously did but I still find it slow as a mostly solo player. I have already played 13-14h and am level 53. Playing through the game once (normal mode), allowed me to reach level 38 only. I guess I will reach level around 20h hours of gameplay (that's still better than the 30+ hours that were needed before).

So I do not know if I will have the "courage" or the time to level to others characters to 60 before RoS comes out.
