jesus this movie is from the 90s how is it old

and no I don't remember it, that was too long ago surely no one was alive then
Stephen King was alive then. He sued to have his name taken off the movie because everything but the effects sucked so bad, that only the easily distracted liked it.

Re: Who remembers that old movie "The Lawnmower Man"?

I remember i saw this with my dad when i was younger, and well it scared me to death back then, but i remember thinking the virtual reality scenes in it were so cool and so realistic. Like it was the coolest technology movie i have ever seen. So my dad got me the game for Super Nintendo, and man i was hooked on that, even though it was stupidly hard.

But who remembers it? I want to re-watch it again because if i remember right i saw it maybe 7-8 years ago, and i still liked it. It had a really good plot. But i just watched a few scenes on Youtube, and man its ridiculous looking at the special effects from that movie now. Thinking "OH MY GOD THIS IS SO COOL" back then, and look at what we have now.
Looks like "The Lawnmower Man" is in your head now ...

ray harryhausen still holds up.
Bingo.
Stephen King was alive then.
More properly phrased, "Stephen King hadn't revealed himself fully as a cynical, shiftless bag of crap yet" IMO. I mean, does anyone <read> the dross he turns out now? This homage to "Flowers for Algernon" was better than anything else I've read of his for almost a decade.

I was watching Seventh Journey of Sinbad the other night, it was brilliant.

Stephen King was alive then. He sued to have his name taken off the movie because everything but the effects sucked so bad, that only the easily distracted liked it.
I think it was because they took basically just the name from the original, and mashed it together with another completely unrelated script.

I read the short story back in highschool, it starts out vaguely similar but then it's pretty much nothing like it.

Stephen King isn't dead. Unless I'm missing some kind of subtext here.

The Running Man had the same problem; almost nothing at all like the novelette. Well, they're both about deadly shows, that's it. I do love the part where Arnold says "Here is your Sub Zero!!!. Now, he is plaaaaaiiiin zero!!!"

But the Lawnmower Man short story was actually about this pot bellied man who had an automatic lawn mower. The guy who hired him looks out to check his progress or w/e and is horrified to see the fat man crawling along beside his mower eating up all the grass that comes out. Then, the mower turns on the frightened guy and gets him. It's pretty stupid actually, lol.

Ah yeah, I remember now. Kind of weird and nonsensical but on the whole okay.

Don't know how King ever expected they could translate that faithfully.
