Who is at their workplace atm?

Sry,if there was a survey on this before,My sense of guilt would be a bit lower if I knew I am not the only one who is doing this. :p

Yep, I'm working like mad at the moment, hehe....

I'm an intern at a consultancy company, I'm behind the PC all day. I've "allowed" myself to stay on the OTF all day to clear my head whenever I feel the need to. By the looks of my postcount that's been about 70 times now.......

Meh, I surf forums as part of my job, so I don't feel too bad about keeping this one open in a tab and posting now and again. Keeps my head clear and allows me just enough distraction to keep from shooting myself in the head halfway through the day. I don't feel too bad about it.

I'm on mostly all day everyday, keeping an eye on threads I've posted in. I don't have the time to post loads but if something interesting comes up I can usually find the time to post. ;)

I have people around me who notice if I'm on too much... :(

Online market research--a lot of my day is spent watching different forums for chat about clients and keeping track of what people are saying, how many are saying it, what suggestions they have, etc.

And for the record this site isn't on my office radar, so we don't watch this one.

------Sorry for potential hijack: I'm just interested in DC's job---------

What people are you watching then?

Is your company trying to sell a product?

Do you have to find out what people think of it, or what they would like to see improved, or what they're interested in? Or am I way off here?

Good to know that we're safe here on the OTF!

    David.

I leave my computer on pretty much 24/7 and when I check my email (several times a day) this is my 5 minute break.

    Nice!

I work for an airline. My work is mostly operational communication, preparing pax manifest, arranging catering, assisting in ULD(Cargo containers) control.etc.Apart from the Airline communication system(SITATEX),I have to take care of emails,so thats my window of opportunity to fool around here. :p

    Sorry about those technical terms.

I won't disclose any of our clients, as I can't really, but to give an example lets say we worked Freet's imaginary company "Dillers Inc." I'd watch the OTF for threads about dillers and any mentions of Dillers Inc. If a large number of people were saying that they wanted to see purple dillers, I'd make a note of it. If a large number of people said they had no idea what a diller was, I'd make a note of it. Etc.

You dont actively participate in the forums you watch? I mean you dont influence the trend, you measure it?

Seems like a nice job. :)

OK, I think I get it........ a consumer-preference kind of thing.

What ever happened to good old fashioned jobs like bakers or milkmen? They can explain what they do in no-time!

I can't even explain what I do. Maybe that's why I suck at doing it, hehe.

I find myself spending more and more time lurking about in the OTF during my workday than I actually spend doing any work. Things may chage once I get a new contract to work on and am no longer able to "work on technical reports at my desk". The good news is that I bought a pc for my laboratory so I can keep on lurking, even when I finally do have work that needs to get done. I love my job.

I surf this and the WoW site during the week to:

    A) keep up on my gaming stuff and make sure the Animals over there don't get out of hand.

    B) Keep up with the goings on in the OTF which effects the whole world.

I sign on most nights while I'm at work. Since I work alone, I can come and check things out any time I want. As a chemist I generally stumble into my office between explosions and mutations, and check out the forums while I'm extinguishing the fires and smoking acid drips on my lab coat.
