white runeword

i have been shopping for a white wand for the white rune word.

i am going to use the socket quest to add sockets.. will it put two sockets for me or is it a stab in the dark.

i am hoping this can hold me over till i can get a arm of king leoric

it seems no one in the west realms have it for sale

The following list contains all the wands that are capable of receiving 2 sockets.

Bone Wands
Grim Wands
Petrified Wands
Tomb Wands
Grave Wands
Polished Wands
Ghost Wands
Lich Wands
Unearthed Wands

If you are shopping from Drognan, you'll only be keeping an eye out for Bone Wands, as anything higher is sold in Nightmare and Hell (which Drognan then never sells anything but magically imbued items, so the runeword is no longer an option)

Expect to spend days looking for the perfect wand.

NOTE: The Larzuk socket quest ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS puts the MAXIMUM number of sockets in an item.

It shouldn't be too hard. Look at Normal Akara and Drognan and look for a (white or 2-socketed) Bone Wand with +3 to Bone Spear. This will give your wand a total of +8 to Bone Spear. Other skill bonuses are a plus, but not absolutely necessary.

To my knowledge, Akakara does not sell wands that are able to have 2 sox.
Only NPC in the game that offers wands able to make white out of is Drognan, only look at the non-magical bonewands.
I have been shopping for days (well not the entire time, maybe 500 shops in total) and best i got was a 3 bonespear 2 clay golem wand.
Also, don't look for a 3 bonespear 3 bonespirit wand at drognan because he is unable to spawn that.
Reason is that the highest skill staffmods possible there are of level 18, any skill that is beyond level 18 will not spawn, so don't waste your time looking for the impossible. (same when you are looking for a 3 ES staff, IT WILL NOT SPAWN, so don't bother)
Best wand in my opinion that you can shop for at Drognan is a 3 bonespear, 3 teeth/skeleton mastery/skeleton warrior, 3 bonearmor/skeleton mastery/skeleton warrior nonmagical bonewand (with either 2 sox or no sox, having one with one socket is useless cause you are unable to make another one in it, Larzuk won't do it).
Chances of shopping that are rather tiny though. (about 1/several hundred thousend) so do buy one if its close to what you are looking for.
Last tip is to shop with AS MUCH GOLD AS POSSIBLE, can't stretch that enough, the reason is that sometimes you find the perfect item, but its price is ridiculously high because its for example superior, if you then don't have enough gold to buy it then you will either cry and beat yourself or wait (if unlucky for hours) untill one of your friends enters bnet.

Also, white is pretty much a bonespear kind of wand, aokl is a pure skeleton wand.
If you are pure summon, then don't bother with white.

Good luck.

It's ok if you like the Polearm look. The problem is you can's equip a shield (Homunculus) so you miss out on a couple of skill points.

...Grim's Burning Dead...
Grim's really only has two things going for it: +45% FR and +3 skills. Now, while the +3 skills looks pretty good, it's more of a "jack-of-all-trades, but master of none". Basically, at clvl45 (same as Grim's clvl req) you can buy a wand with +3 to all your "key" skills (e.g. an entire skill tree), which leaves your off-hand (shield) for additional +skills or resists.

The only truly effective use I've found for Grim's is in the hands of an A2 Merc. The overall damage (~250 avg) is fairly good in general, and the fire damage by itself (~180 avg) is really helpful against the occasional unbreakable PI.

As mentioned before, Grim's does get some points for style/originality. You almost never see a Necro wielding a polearm.
