well lets look at whistan's guard:

requires low strength (53 strength)
makes you get away with 186 dex for max block in lvl 99
40% faster block rate
half freeze duration

and surely its easy to get your hands on...

then lets look at sanctuary in a troll nest:

requires a bit high str (106 strength)
this shield requires 263 dex in lvl 99!!!
+20% Faster Hit Recovery
+20% Faster Block Rate
+250 Defense vs. Missile
+20 To Dexterity
All Resistances +50-70 (varies)
Magic Damage Reduced By 7
Level 12 Slow Missiles (60 Charges)


now the question is will you sacrifice all those attribue points for so litle extra bonus?

My MF sorc uses Whistan's Guard for exactly the reasons you have listed. I sink all those extra points into vitality.

IN PvP +20% FHR, +20% FBR are not a small add. INfact those attributes are quite important in PvP, just aswell as added Dex, MDR and Defense against Missiles...

well im just wondering if you use nightveil then you need 10 more str... thats 10 attribute points and 77 from dex

and if we get 2 + to life from every point we put in vitality this will get us...

174 more points in life... hmm is it really worth all these points?

I would say yes! Dont forget about the lam esan tomb quest in act3 this makes you feel a little better about using the stat points.

I would say that sanctuary would be better than whitstans most of the times.
I don't exactly remember what it was but I saw a FHR rate breakpoints and you get SO much frames off at the beginning by just putting very small amount of fhr...
My sorc risked a un-hel runed SS, and that was with all the bonus from anni, shako, etc. etc., 1~5 points in dex just for CTA, and all the rest in vit. She has around 320~350 vit and 1.8k life w/ BO, and although I somewhat regret not wearing lidless, I manage to break the 120fcr breakpoint and my mana recovers really fast no needing the +%mana mod, and I tank ALL barbs really well. (strange how I can't really tank zealots and ww sins)

For max blockers out there, I think sanc would still be better but I'm really not sure I never made a max blocker in my life...

I, personally, have never felt the need for max block on a sorc, and have found my Sanctuary trollnest invaluable. I prefer loading it in on the vit, as opposed to the max block route.. :grrr:

Ya for my sorc i also went the vita build. I use sanc because my sorc lacks in resist. It really boosted it up.
