whirlwind, knockback and ctc frost nova

whirlwind, knockback and ctc frost nova

I've made a ladder barb named HitPowerBarb; guess what gear he'll use. I've never made a ww barb, so that's the plan, but I'd also like to use all hitpower gear for the ctc frost nova.

I think I've read that whirlwind and knockback work well together, but I'm not sure. If I intend for my barb to get hit in melee enough for the HP gear to look cool, will it be okay if I use whirlwind? Will the KB gloves ruin whirlwind?

Thanks

CTCs don't work with whirlwind. As for knockback, I don't know how well it would work, if it all.

Whirldwind and knockback work well together only when done in the right angle. Otherwise, it'll just help them escape.

HitPower items have a ctc frost nova when struck; so my questions is, will a WW barb get hit often enough for full hitpower gear to do anything? Full HP gear (with a 2-hander) will give a 45% ctc frost nova when struck.

yuqing: Hmm. It seems like a knockback/ww barb won't work very well. Maybe I'll give it a try anyway, just to see how badly it performs.

nopes, im pretty sure nothing procs in WW...but i have toyed with KB, its sweet if you can hit them at the right angle...ever seen a ww knock the enemy in front of a ww, it keeps going and going and going

My previous wordings must have been unclear.

Will a whirlwind barb get hit a lot? Not during a ww, but in general. This is a question about the style of the build in general, not of how ww interacts with other game effects.

That's what I was expecting, but since this is for general PvM, and since it would only work that way against one enemy at a time, I was hoping that KB didn't work with WW. Maybe I'll just use rare or maybe blood gloves with a proc on them.

well being hit all depends on the set up, my pvpww uses grief+ss, with max block, and 23k def, he is a pain to hit.

Casting on "get Hit" works. been awhile, but ww vs barb wearing steel carpice procs maiden.

But yeah if your shielded ww you dont get hit much. swap to berzerk to see the fireworks.

chances wont add, they are rolled seperately. wont make much of a difference, but you it could be triggered multiple times at the same time or not at all for several hits in contrary for almost every other hit.

Yes but in average you will unleash 45 frost novas every 100 times you're hit. Them counting separately only makes the proc more unevenly. I'd say a berserker barb works better with hitpower.

If the Slvl, skill, and method of casting is the same, then the chances will stack.

I think I'll try making a polearm ww barb, but not with only hitpower gear. I've crafted hitpower gloves with both nova and frost nova, so I'll aim for that sort of craft, except that I'll probably use blood gloves. Maybe I can get 40% ctc frost nova, 42% ctc nova, and 10% ctc hydra. That'll be a lot of sapphires.
