which weapon for zealot?

Ok, so it turns out that I had forgotten completely about axes for zealots, don't ask me why, but I did, so hiding amongst my stash I have this little gem:
Butcher's Pupil
Cleaver
One-Hand Damage: 59 to 146
Required Strength: 68
Required Level: 39
Axe Class - Fast Attack Speed
Indestructible
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 49
Fingerprint: 0xb82c4173
+191% Enhanced Damage
+30 to Minimum Damage
+50 to Maximum Damage
30% Increased Attack Speed
25% Chance of Open Wounds
35% Deadly Strike
Indestructible

and yesterday, I found this:
Djinn Slayer
Ataghan
One-Hand Damage: 85 to 151
Durability: 19 of 22
Required Dexterity: 95
Required Strength: 138
Required Level: 65
Sword Class - Fast Attack Speed
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 76
Fingerprint: 0x21623100
+229% Enhanced Damage
Adds 250-500 fire damage
6% Mana stolen per hit
136% Damage to Demons
+239 to Attack Rating against Demons
+6 Lightning Absorb
Socketed (1: 0 used)

I like the absorb and fire dmg of the second, but I don't know what to socket in it (highest rune is lem, so...was considering either an amn or an eth).

the axe I like for the open wounds and deadly strike (and lack of repairs). so I'm kind of indecisive at this point- I'll probably try out both, but was wondering if anyone had a preference, and why, and if anyone had a recommendation on socketing within my means (use and eth/amn, or wait and rune hunt for something better- I have a sorc in hell currently that might find somethng interesting),

oh yeah- for consideration close to end-game fana zealot with a few pts. in vengence for PIs, and his other gear is: tiamat's, gore riders boots 10/15/15 OW/CB/DS, Willhelm's Pride belt for LL, safety grand crown, blood gloves with 10% CB, Tooth Row armor with 40% OW, and socketed with 21% EDmg, Raven frost, rare dual leach ring, and ammy with +2 offensive skills. and a backpack full of elemental dmg charms...

thanks all!

How many Ort runes do you have? :) The Djinn Slayer is pretty good and I'd say it beats out Butcher's Pupil for damage, plus you should never have mana worries - but it's so fragile you'll be taking trips back to town every 10 minutes or so for repairs! Of course the Cleaver is Indestructible, but has lower damage (made up for in DS and OW).

As a Zealot, I'd recommend the Butcher's Pupil simply because of its Indestrucibility. You can always upgrade it to a Small Crescent if you can get the runes later.

Socketing options... in the lower end there aren't too many useful bits. Shael if you need the IAS (check an IAS table, although I doubt you need much as a Fana-Zealot), Amn if you need the life steal, possibly even an Ort for the extra elemental damage. Zeal and Fana should give you more than enough AR, so Eth is probably unneccesary.

Suggestions regarding weapon

I have a level ** Paladin with zeal, vengeance, and fanaticism all maxed out. I would wait before socketing the Djinn. I did a bunch of meph runs and ended getting both Baranars Star and Nords Tenderizer. Both weapons are much more effective than the Djinn because I also had that one previously. Just this morning I did a pit run and got the elite unique Glimmershred flying axe. It also kicks some serious ***. Do some serious meph and pit running because you'll definitely get something better than the weapon you have and then socket it. Just my suggestion. Have a good one.

as for orts- it depends upon necessity- when I need them, they are hardly able to be found since I cubed them when there were just too many... :p

for socketing, what about an EDmg jewel? I have a 17% floating around one of my stashes, I think.

Thanks for the fast reply too!

Well if you are looking for something that is easily accesable for a Zealot then why not try a Nord's. They seem to be the prefered easy to obtain Zealot weapon.

Nord's Tenderizer
Truncheon
One-Hand Damage: 143 to 175
Durability: 44 of 55
Required Dexterity: 43
Required Strength: **
Required Level: 68
Mace Class - Very Fast Attack Speed
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 87
Fingerprint: 0xa0eef590
+309% Enhanced Damage
Adds 205-455 cold damage over 5 seconds
25% Increased Attack Speed
150% Bonus to Attack Rating
150% Damage to Undead
Freezes Target +3
7% Cold Absorb
Level 16 Blizzard (3/12 Charges)

W/ average damage of 160, huge Cold Damage bonus, decent IAS, cold absorb and freezes target... this is a pretty good Zealot weapon.

Heck if you wanted I could send you this very one

Thanks for the offer! I'm enjoying playing with things as i find them though and only twink across my characters (a tournament trade not withstanding) even if it has meant parking my zealot for a while- it helps when i pay attention to what i have in my stash though. So I do appreciate the offer, but there may be someone more time/item limited than me that it might server better in the future.

:)
