which merc is best for pvp wind druid?
and whats the final gear of it? ty.
Mercs aren't usually used in PvP, but if you insist on using one get a holyfreeze merc.
ok, thanks, then how about the gear of merc?
For maximum damage resistance, shaftstop+vampire gaze
For maximum resists,
cheap duriels shell(cbf)+Tal Rasha's Horadric Crest/anything really
Expensive chains of honor+crown of ages with cham/godly all resist circlet socketed with cham
(Ethereal) reaper's toll
(Ethereal) tomb reaver
Ethereal cresent moon great poleaxe
Would a might merc increase your Tornado and Twister damage?
Why not get a defensive merc for more defense? ( as you already have huricaine that deal cold dmg..... )
And if you have some pets.. then a might merc could be more preferable?
No (would be cool if it did )
Might merc would increase pet damage - but (hopefully) you'll be dealing far more damage yourself anyway.
Extra defence is nice but it won't be saving you against (any?) melee type char (they have far too much ar).
So I prefer holy freeze!
If I remember right Holy Freeze and Hurricane can stack their slowing powers.
Another idea is to get a Rogue girl and give her Edge bow ( if u're on ladder ) to have lvl 15 Thorn Aura?
thorn merc. Any meleer dear to touch ur pets they will die.
Or give a might merc Bramble. I'd imagine an ebotd war pike could do some serious damage.
why not a act 2 defiance merc,
and a eth helm socketed with cham or like a eth dream helm or something
coh is interesting, 2skill, 7ll, 20str, but 65% all res is kind of waste.
looks like need to prepare coh and bramble at the same time
but i think i will follow this build, if there is no other better choice.
by the way, does barb's ww physical damage?
what you mean by barbs ww damage physical??
well if you meanif you put faith on a act 1 merc or pride on a might merc yes you do get a damage boost from itona ww barb, butif you did a tpyo and meant druid no its elemental
thorns suck in pvp.
how come? Is better than IR.
forget why. im sure someone will see this and explain. but iron maiden is good in pvp. thorns isnt.
"Thorns: Since the amount of damage it deals is based on the amount of damage you receive, if you take less damage due to wearing damage reduction gear, the damage returned will also be less. The damage returned is also reduced by the opponent’s damage reduction, and it works at 1/10 its listed damage returned in PvP" -pala faqs
I believe Iron Maiden has the same mechanics, so if both had the same damage return %, then both should have the same effectiveness.
Both are worthless in pvp unless there are minions around, in which case it can hurt quite a bit when you hit the minions.
As for the topic:
If you choose to go with a melee type merc, I would use a Might merc equipped with doom for the unresistable chill and high damage. A regular holy freeze merc with a Reapers toll would be a decent substitute if you can't afford doom.
The best pvp merc in my opinion is a fire arrow rogue. Melee mercs get killed very quickly and rarely get a chance to do much. Rogues however, shoot at your opponent from range and usually stay alive long enough to fire off a couple arrows. They also shoot at your opponent while you teleport, so it is a good deterrent and a great way to annoy hammerdins.
Mercs won't survive long in real pvp, so for armor/helm, give them things to boost their damage/attack speed, because they'll probably die whether or not they have good armor.
actually im should work better.. even if slightly since necros can have over 20+ minions with massive life that a barb has to whirl though.. the damage adds up like mad. but a pally or any char with thorns aura on.. wont have nearly as many minions.
The two skills will return identical damage if they are both the same % return...Minions have nothing to do with it. Yes a necro has minions, but that doesn't mean thorns from a pally on some other minions (say another necros skellies) won't work just as well.
Are damage return skills better suited for a necromancer? Yes.
Is thorns less effective than Iron Maiden given identical % return? No.
