which is better

i have all the runes to make either chains of honor, or enigma. i cant decide which to make. they both have +2 skills. but coh has 65 resist and enigma has teleport. it seems they both might be able to give to add the same amount of extra defense depending on which armor i use. im stuck

The question totally depends on what characters you are going to make, how wealth you are now and what you goals are for the coming periods.

Generally, if you are in your wealth building period, going for enigma is the normal option as this gives you the opportunity to make a good hammerdin. As know, this will make mf-runs easier thus building your wealth faster.

However, some people as myself don't want to play a character like that. If you're into amazon, coh is considered the better option for most builds and a sorcerer doesn't benefit form the teleport making enigma not useful.

In conclusion, as always, an undefined best results in an undefined answer, so try to gives us some pointers to work with.

i'd answer a bit same as the previous answer, it all depends on which char you are building / you prefer playing. I particularily dislike hdin gameplay here (i've played one for 89 lvs and told myself never again) way too repetitive and boring for my opinion.

But enigma is a great armor for necromancer as well, in my case a summoner, the gain is incredible for this char, and you can very easily cap your resists elswhere with a little wealth (hoto (or beast if you can afford some additionnal skillers ;) ), mara (if you go for beast otherwise just find a good +2 nec or +3 summoning mf amu), pdiamed homunculus, umed shako (again if you go for beast otherwise just ptopaz it), 1 15 all charm and you are almost max res in hell, throw in torch + anni and you have a killing machine, enough fcr to tp decently your army and clear the hardest dungeons in the game in no time, and with no problems of imunes (=hdin) and way more fun in my opinion).

For melee builds tho, you'd benefit more of coh, or fortitude (forty might even be the better choice in most cases unless you lack resists to much as on an ama or if you built an uber char (you need over maxed res to negate mephi conviction)) : my smiter uses coh, my baba uses forty... :)

Vouch what Nexo stated. I have a nigma on my necro, and a Coh for my zon and druid (they share the same one until such time as I can afford another). Both are fantastic armours, so it all comes down to build.

As strong as CoH is, Enigma opens up some nice build possibilities. Again, it depends upon what you are looking for. CoH is a strong armor and has good application for melee characters as well as mercs. Enigma has the MF and the oskill Teleport is great, not just for Hammerdins and Summoners (minion regrouping is great with Teleport) but also for helping with keeping a merc or minions alive.

CoH is a strong armor for a lot of builds. As mentioned above, Fortitude is actually stronger in many melee cases (ones that don't have huge +ED% already from skills benefit greatly from Fortitude.) Enigma is a strong armor particularly for casters that don't already have teleport, and it opens up some build possibilities that aren't otherwise as feasible.

As far as defense, it's largely irrelevant except for a few builds that really focus on maximizing defense. So I wouldn't worry about that. But it's hard to be more specific without more info about the builds you have in mind and playstyle.
