Which helm should I use for a bowa?

Should I use a 3 passive / 30 frw helm with 2 sockets (40/15'd)

or

Should I use a 30 run/walk helm with 3 sockets (40/15'd)

Is use P mat faith, what do you guys think?

you should use a 30frw/3os helm because the other doesnt exist (their both prefixes).

actually since you're using a mat faith you dont need 3x ias jewels in your hat. a lot of mat zon users use gskull for the crushing/str/knockback.

Anywho, if you're using a matriarchal bow faith, you only need fortysomething ias to hit seven frame guided arrow, using the first helm will allow for a bunch more gear flexibility, assuming this is a PvP bowazon, you didn't actually mention what type of 'zon it is. :azn:

Also the fr/w on gear will allow for potentially better life optimization (30 fr/w on gear = 10 to 6 charms worth of fr/w which could have up to 20 life instead, all other things held constant).

I see under the assumption that I also have 20 ias knockback gloves would you still think the first helm was better? I also am getting a 1.08 highlords for this char so that would add 30% frw too and a bunch of 3/20/5 frw charms (to help hit higher run/walk) and I am using 30 frw boots. So assuming I am using all of that gear would the first helm still be the ideal choice and of course why? Oh and I always intend to keep the gloves on incase you were wondering (unless theres a better set for different situations).

Ps. I already have both helms and I only noticed about a 100 damage decrease on max damage and about 10 on min. Im still having trouble deciding on if the damage is more important or the extra passives to avoid damage. Also, I can see the point that the first helm could have a different jewel in it to increase damage. Thanks for your input thus far.

The question is between 3 passives or 1 socket? I'd still go for the 1socket. Even just an um = 18 res all will be more useful then 3 passives if you ask me.

3 passives will do what? Increase your d/e/a with 1%? Critcal with any other? And perhaps your cth with multi again 1%. Those are really small numbers.

Now if you were to make a hybrid...

Good point Nase I was thinking about keeping it a pure bowa but a hybrid might add versatility. I do have a p eth up'd titans revenge from last ladder so maybe thats a possibility to?

I would lean toward the 3os helm for the flexibility it lends. With 3 40/15s you can get total freedom on your other gear. If you have some sweet 20ias gloves that you know you will always use, you can still get creative with the last socket. For example, would a Ber reduce damage by more then the +3 passive mod? You could also play with other magic or rare jewels.

Do you need extra damage reduction? High d/e/a, high frw and high block are meant to take zero damage because you are a low life character. A ber, that offers 8% damage reduction, is useless if it only kicks in once every duel. Damage kicks in with every hit you score.


btw, the hybride idea is as follows. You can up 3 points less in critical and d/e/a, and thus you save 12 points to spend extra on whatever skill you want. Just make sure to keep at the needed breakpoints.
