Where to from here? lvl 59 FO/CL sorc

Alright, what do you guys think I should do with this now. I'm lvl 59 and my gear is as follows:

    Peasant Crown (will be Shako)
    Occulus
    Lidless Wall
Saracens Chance Ammy (12+ attr, +24res. all)
    2xSOJ
    Magefist
    Tal's Belt
    Natalya's Boots.

I have around 800 mana, decent resists in NM because I traded out mana charms for res sc. Something like upper 65/75/60/40 or so resists. I only have around 500 life though.

My skill investment thus far is:

    1 warmth
    1 all prereq's
    1 static
    2 teleport
    1 energy shield

    17 Lightning
    2 Chain Lightning
    5 Lightning Mastery

    20 Frozen Orb
    6 Cold Mastery

It looks like I might be trading for the full Tal's set and a Spirit Monarch hopefully later today. *EDIT* I DID just trade for Full Tal Rasha's Set, so once I hit lvl 71, I'll be using that +2xSOJ, MageFist, and Nat's Boots if I need resists, maybe war travellers though otherwise.

    My attributes are as follows:

    strength: 153
Dextery: 93 (but boosted with gear some more)
    Vitality: 86
    Energy: 38

I'm real worried about survivability. I'm playing this character as if she is HC. I'm only playing SC because I have to in order to be able to use the items I trade for, but I want to avoid death at all costs. I've started to come close a couple times finishing a3 nm.

Questions: Is full Tal's set a good idea? Where should I put my remaining skill points at and in what order? Should I consider Telekinesis because it is a synergy of ES? What about attributes? I guess the remaining will go into dex/vitality to max block and then as much life as possible... but is Max Block possible/desirable with 'Spirit' Monarch ? I'll have insight on Merc, so mana won't be a problem (really hasn't been so far.. 1 point in warmth gives me like lvl 13 or so and I never run out unless I'm spamming orb/lightning/teleport.

    Any help greatly appreciated!

    *EDIT*

    OCCY TELEPORT = BAD!!!

Peasant Crown (will be Shako) --> tals with p topaz
Occulus --> tals with ist/all res jool
    Lidless Wall --> spirit
Saracens Chance Ammy (12+ attr, +24res. all) --> tals
    2xSOJ --> fcr/mf rings (like nagels)
Magefist / guard chancies for mf
    Tal's Belt
Natalya's Boots. --> mf boots, nn high res (only fire + light))

My skill investment thus far is:

    1 warmth
    1 all prereq's
    1 static
    2 teleport --> 1
    1 energy shield --> 0

    17 Lightning
2 Chain Lightning --> shouldnt you max it 1st? :S after all, build is CL/ORB
    5 Lightning Mastery

    20 Frozen Orb
    6 Cold Mastery --> 16 AFTER +skills bonus

    My attributes are as follows:

    strength: 153 --> 156 AFTER items
Dextery: 93 (but boosted with gear some more) --> shouldnt touch it at all >.>
Vitality: 86 --> pump it as high as possible
Energy: 38 --> dont touch it

+2 will yield more dps than 1 more frame on L/CL. And MF is already plentiful enough in full Tal's that PTopazes are hardly justified, let alone Nagel's.

Re: Where to from here? lvl 59 FO/CL sorc

i hate doing math on random topics... but here it go:

    Tal rasha items:

    Wand: +20 fcr
    Armor: +10 fcr
    belt: +10 fcr
    amulet: +10fcr

    total: 50fcr

spirit: 25-35 fcr (going to take averaging 30 fcr)

    80 fcr

fcr gloves (mages / trang gloves)

    100 fcr

so you need at least 1 fcr ring at least to hit 105 fcr for safer blind teleporting. (unless by miracle you got perfect spirit)

and now, it is +1 all skills vs 1 frame :scratchchin:

    Items total +skills:

    stick: 1sorc
    amulet: 2 sorc
    full set: +3 sorc
    spirit: +2
    torch: +3
    anni: +1

    total: 12 skills

lets say you are level 91 and done all skill quests, that gives you 100 skill points:

    Cold Tree: 28 points

5 pre req skills for orb
    20 points in orb
2 points in CM ( if you got +2 CM orb and no soj)
    1 point in frozen armor

    Fire tree: 1

    1 point in warmth

    Lighting tree: 71

    1 static
    1 telekinesis
    1 teleport
    20 lighting
    20 CL
    20 CM
    8 CB

Lighting damage (cl is too much hasle to calculate) is: 16-10553

for DPS i ll be only calculating lighting side, because orb on CD any ways.

117fcr bp for 12 frames attack

10553-(10553-16)/2=5284 as average damage per 12 frames

5284/12= 440.3(3in period) damage per frame.

with + 1 from soj, you got

    17-11419 damage

    (11419-(11419-17)/2)/13= 439.8461 etc per frame

    117fcr > 1less frame but +1 skill

    with 2 soj:

    17-12312 damage

    (12312-(12312-17)/2)/13=474.1920 etc damage per frame

outcome: eather you getting perfect spirit and stick with 2 soj for better dps, or you get 27fcr+ spirit with nice fcr rings and do more damage then 1 soj 1 fcr ring

P.S. i hope it looks better then just wall of text >.>

Re: Where to from here? lvl 59 FO/CL sorc

Animes, I did the same math as you, everything I've read on here was like 'tals and spirit gives you 105 fcr' and it doesn't. I'm lvl 72 now, wearing the full set and it just doesn't happen. It only equals 100. I like my SOJ's however, because of the skills and +40% mana. I'm not too worried about the 105fcr because I'm probably going to switch out to Stormshield once I go into Hell and start having to deal with the big boys, so I won't even be near enough to 105 to warrant changing rings, unless I had 2 20fcr ones, which I don't.

BTW, I have a 35fcr spirit. Oops.. that means I do have 105fcr, HAHA. I didn't count the belt. Oh well. When I do go into Hell though, I'm primarily going to use SS for DR, resists, and blocking, because remember, I am playing SC, but only so I can trade in the SPTF. If I die once, this character is dead. I'm only going to use Spirit on areas I know I'm safe to run in.

I decided to max LM first and then do CL

    So I have:
    4 CB
    20 L
    2 CL
    14 LM

    20 FO
    6 CM

FO is my main killer by farr, although the -15%resist with tals has helped out my lightning a good bit.

    *EDIT*

wow... that 35FCR to hit the 105 breakpoint really does make a huge difference. Although, with SS on I hardly take any damage. I'm only going to use it on areas that I'm going in to the first time, i.e. questing. Spirit will be for everything else.

Also, MF isn't a factor because of Tal's, but I also have a 38% Gheeds.

Did you mean HC then? :p

besides, you dont need more then 1 point in CM with items i listed above.

Main thing i would like to remind you is: don't go lover then 63%fcr for safe(more or less) blind teleporting.

No, I play Single Player. I like to trade. The Single Player Trade Forum has this retarded rule that you can trade items FROM HC to use in SC, but that you can't trade for or use items that you found IN SC to use in HC. My first character was a HC barb, found all my wealth (well, a very nice person on here helped me out a lot to get me started), but I found Jah, Ber, Lo, etc etc and traded the Jah for like 15 SC items... can't use any of those in HC. So, I have to play SC to use the items I traded for and to continue trading because there are basically no HC traders, so it would be pointless to make new HC characters and continually trade for SC items I'm not allowed to use.

BTW, bc I'm SP, I don't have Torch/Anni, but I do have a Lightning skills GC.

I'm lvl 80 now, I respecc'd to Nova, which I LOVE. CL/L was just annoying to me and ineffective. I mean, Lightning owned everything, but I didn't like using it. Nova is perfect. It's really fun and relatively safe. BUT, I definitely have to keep the 105FCR breakpoint to use it effectively, and it sure is a mana-hog.

Where do you think I should put my remaining skill points into? Max LM/nova/FO so far, a lot in CM, like 15-17 or something, it's got -160 resistance. So would putting them in ice bolt be a good idea? i guess that's really the only choice... I'm thinking about ditching ES because a lot of the time it makes it really hard to continue spamming nova. What do you guys think?

I'm seriously thinking about designiing a build around Nova, but I always though it would be too weak without perfect items, to put enemies in recovery. How much damage are you delivering with each cast?

1700, and my LM is lowwww I have like 13 hard points in it, but it's around lvl 25 with gear on.

    I do 675 with Orb.

I put 15 into Ice Bolt, my idea now is just to match LM and Ice Bolt together as I progress. I'm lvl 85 now.

Your Nova needs LM much more than your Orb needs Ice Bolt.

As Noite Escura pointed out, it's pretty dangerous to run Nova without putting monsters into hit recovery. But hey, you're the one playing HC, so you probably know your limits.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I wanted my Orb to be strong enough to KO LI's quickly though, because they take down my merc. For cold immunes my Holy Freeze merc tanks, I run up, or tele into a good position, static them to half life, spam nova until they're all dead. I've learned how to be careful, but the stronger Orb I think was definitely worth it, IMO. I've got +20% cold skill damage with my Tal's set, and socketed the orb with +5%/-3% cold facet. I'm just not going past a3/maybe a4 hell until I get to lvl 90. I might try to take Izzy on p1 for the skill points for LM, and then go back to doing pit/AT/LK runs on p7/8 for experience (and hopefully some runes : ) ) I also wanted my Orb to be strong for things like Gloams, it has a lot more range than nova, I can cast it and tele around for greater safety against LI's.
