The Pit is the cave level in the Act 1 Tamoe Highlands, the place after the Black Marsh and before the Outer (Brainfart). There isn't a waypoint, so you can use either the Black Marsh or the Outer (still can't remember), although I recommend Outer (okay this is getting annoying) because it's technically closer. It is marked on the map in the same way as the Underground Passage, that purple and red traced hole. It's on the path, by the way, so follow the path from Outer (I can't believe I don't remember) and follow the left-most branch of the fork. If you end up in Black Marsh, turn around and follow the other branch.

The monsters have an mlvl 85, I believe; and the champion/uniques are higher. That means you have very good chance of getting some very good items. Also, the monsters are extremely weak and have, for summoners, no problematic resistances or attacks. There are a few ranges, but they don't really hurt much, especially since the tunnels are so narrow. That means that you get good items from easy monsters, instead of good items from really hard monsters, as in the WSK.

Items I've gotten from the pit recently: Ali Babas, String of Ears, Kuko, Crescent Moon, 2 Raven Frosts, +2 Druid skill amulet, and a handful of decent runes.

It's not a Baal drop, but it's really, really easy.

mlvl of normal monster in pit: 85

mlvl of champion in pit: 87

mlvl of unique monster in pit: **

ALL of those can drop TC 87 items... meaning any items in the game (except for a couple extremely-high charm modifiers, such as skiller w/ +45 life)

But the REAL pit is the Strid pit of sexing. I'm not allowed to talk about it around non-druids tho...
