Where are best spots for socket drops?

    Greetings -

I've heard that Nightmare is the best level for finding empty socket items. Are there any better places to look than others? Trying to find any 4os staff and shield. Thanks!

More white items drop in NM:scratchchin:, someone's played a joke I'm afraid

Don't wear MF gear, and run at the highest player setting possible

4os Shields are available only in Hell, staff should be easy to find (look up the max sockets on the wiki, find an appropriate one, and Larzuk it if you're desparate)

Hell Cow level might be best, as it has a large number of enemies that are relatively easy to kill.

Thanks for the quick reply, Lion.

So, white but not sockets in NM, and 4os shields *only* in Hell. Thanks for that.

It looks like the following staves can be 4os - Battle, Cedar, Elder, Gnarled and Gothic. Any suggestions on best places to look for those staves?

Last question - Will the cube socket recipe - Ral/Amn/PerfAmethyst/Normal Wep - always make the maximum number of sockets that the item can have, or is Larzuk the only one who can do that?

    TIA

Thanks, Are. Once I get to Hell I'll give that a try.

the recipe won't always make it maxed but it can max it

Thanks Shauku. Follow up - Does Larzuk *always* max it?

Larzuk always gives the maximum amount of sockets, that the item can have, but remember that the max sockets the item can have is limited by item level.

Thanks very much, Poppis. I will keep both facts in mind before I commit.

I assume any level Larzuk - Normal, Nightmare or Hell - can handle any item. For example, if I got a shield capable of holding 4 sockets in Hell, Normal Larzuk would put 4 sockets in it. Is that correct?

Does it make sense to roll the dice with the recipe if you know exactly what you want? Stated another way, do you *only* use/try the recipe when you've run out of Larzuk quests? When else would you try the Cube for socketing?

It is random, of course, but you can buy 4 socketed staves from some vendors. However, they may not be the type or have the specific mods you are looking for. Just remember the stave has to be white or gray; can't be blue (which most are).

Re: Where are best spots for socket drops?

Thanks Gallant. I've found that Drognan seems to be the only one who regularly has white and gray staves. So far I've only seen 3os ones. I'm only in Nightmare though, so maybe he has 4os ones in Hell.

On my other question - *any* level Larzuk will make the maximum number of sockets?

Re: Where are best spots for socket drops?

Difficulty level is not a factor in Larzuks socket numbers. Only item type and item level.
