So, I’ve lost steam in pursuing my modest goal of finishing Hell mode in single-player, untwinked, and I’m looking for advice. My sorceress is at level 77, and I’ve followed the basic outline of the Blizz-Ball sorc build, although I’ve chosen to max Ice Blast instead of Glacial Spike. Ice Blast and Blizzard are maxed, and non-cold immunes are no problem.
For a while I’d immediately get killed on the Blood Moor, but after getting my resists all near maxed, I was then able to clear the Blood Moor and the Den of Evil very easily. When I tried to move on to the second quest, however, I can't make much headway. I think the weak link is the cold immunes.
I chose to max Cold Skills first, so my fireball and meteor aren’t maxed yet. Also, since the Cold Immunes can’t be frozen, several I’ve encountered were almost extra fast, and I can’t keep away from them even teleporting and turning and fireballing them. I just can’t seem to kill them. (The specific example I’m thinking about is a Gargantuan Beast boss, extra fast, cold immune.)
Would the consensus be that I just need to keep leveling up until I can at least get Fireball and Meteor maxed? Even when using Leaf with a +6 to fireball, it doesn’t seem to be powerful enough to take these guys out. Is there perhaps another weak link? Or should I just get used to teleporting past the difficult points?
I wish I had the Holy Freeze merc at this point… he can slow even cold immunes, correct? If that's correct, as soon as I get to Act II Hell I may hire one to replace my barb merc.
I just can’t seem to find any good +skills equipment, so this is a bit frustrating. Obviously, I’d be disappointed if Hell wasn’t more difficult than NM, but my inability to get any headway is taking a bit of the fun out of it. I’m just one of those players that enjoys the narrative quality of the game, completing quests, moving forward. I think I beat Baal at Level 63 or something like that, and now I’ve just been doing Baal, Mephisto runs, etc., for 14 levels straight, and I’m not having as much fun.
Does Hell get easier, or is it just simply that grueling?

Cliffs:
-Is level 77 too low to continue to Hell in 1.12? Should I just wait until I have my Fire Skills at a higher level?
-Is there a weak link in my character I'm overlooking? (I can provide more info, but I know equipment is likely a weak link--I haven't been able to find much so far. Honestly, it seemed like more good stuff dropped in the first act of NM than any other time in the game. Lots of useful uniques, but it seems all I can get from Baal are rare bows and low level set items.)
