When is bone armor applied?

Subject says it all: when is bone armor applied?

A monster delivers physical damage. Without bone armor this damage is changed around a bit by my physical resistance and whether I'm amped or not before it takes away life.

So when does bone armor come into play? Does it take the originally delivered damage, and only the remaining damage (if any) gets modified by my physical resistance, or is the damage reduce/amp applied before the bone armor?

Let me see if I remember this correctly.

First Defense is checked to see if you actually get hit. Then Block is checked to see if you blocked the attack. After this Physical Resistance (modified by items and curses) is checked to see how the damage will be modified. Straight DR is checked. Now BA comes under attack and takes the modified damage. Any left over damage will be passed to you.

Ah... ok, so Bone Armor is an extension to the life bulb.

It's swirling around you, so it looks like it should happen before anything that's on you... but I guess it has pros and cons... damage reduction gear helps the BA, possibly by some sort of magic aura emanating from it so it covers the BA...

Thanks
