What's with tele ww

What's with tele ww

My new pvp'er is a bvc ww barb.
I decided to put it on test today and dueled my friend as a first duel.
When I tele ww funny things happen.
Sometimes I namelock and when I ww (pointer on the middle of screen) it looks like I ww in place and I get a fast swift sound - the guy does get hurt but like I hit only once. This is also kind of lagging/ locking me.
The other times I get the ww animation (circles) around me and can run with it for a short distance. I tried it on pvm and it seems I can hit monsters while running with the animation on me.
Sometimes I just get regular short ww's.

Which of those ww's are the "best" , how to tele ww in the most efficent way?

You shouldn't be WWing when you have him namelocked. You need to move your cursor underneath him (you will always tele above him when you namelock tele) and ww through him. It sounds like this is your problem.

No, I too have been having this problem. And it's not just restricted to tele-WW either, it's happening very often when I'm just running around PvMing, I find that I only get the three types of whirls described:

1) very short whirls, only about 3 yards (in game terms obviously!)
2) WW animation goes around my barb, though he doesn't move when he does this WW, and can run as normal, completely unaffected.
3) Normal WW. The barb goes directly to where I clicked.

I do not namelock when I ww. This is not simply "lag", as I have a fast connection and have no problems with my other chars. I do not use maphack or any outside programs.

I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I use WW as my left-click skill, and press shift whenever I want him to start whirling instead of running.

Can somebody please explain this?

It's the result of a poor connection. This will always happen on dialup, it just can't move enough data fast enough. Packet loss can cause this also but on a decent connection the incidence of this is pretty low.
Tele+WW is impractical on dialup because of this. You might get lucky sometimes, but its usually an exercise in frustration.

When I asked my friend what does he see, he told me it was strange:
I would start ww'ing slow to very fast and land on top of him when I'm done ww'ing.
Damn, I hoped barb won't be connection depandant.

well i got broadband and it sometimes happens to me! in throne of destruction
i have seen me run all over the place with ww spinning around me and no
dmg dealt or loss of mana its seems its either bad laag or some sort of bug

Okay, I'm sorry to point this out, but I already said: "This is not simply "lag", as I have a fast connection and have no problems with my other chars."

I don't have dialup, and I have a great connection. IT STILL HAPPENS TO ME. If it were something simple like modem problems, HELL, if it were any problem at all on my end, I would have found it already.

However, I'm thoroughly confused with this one, as I believed at first that the problem was internet speed as well.

It's strange that this thread is new and there are quite alot of people who responded having the same problem - without I heard anything about it.
Maybe it has been discussed somewhere because it looks like a serious "issue".
So if anyone can enlighten us - please do.

Yeah, tele/ww barbs require less then ~100 ping to do well.

this is true. recently i just cant tele ww right away due to lag. i have cable too which is pretty sad. i have to press tele twice before the barb actually teleports. and by that time the enemy isnt even there anymore. now i know how rauth feels :(

this is why(for tele especialy) DSL beats cable bnet-wise.
cable is designed to transfer (relativly) big chunks of data fast, and this is not needed for diablo. DSL works better due to smaller packet size.

I used to have a dial-up connection which i recently changed to cable. D2 was working great on dial-up and works poor on cable. However other tasks like downloading work faster on cable.
Btw i have the same problems ww-ing only combined with big lags.

This barb was my last hope for diabloii pvp and at all.
Since I live in Israel(even though on dsl) my ping doesn't shine.
I hope you are wrong, but you seem to be very experienced with dueling and barbs overall so I guess I'll have to scrap this char and quit the game unless I'll find some really intresting not connection depndant build.
