Charms can get poison damage from a prefix and from a suffix. The highest damage prefix is "pestilent" with 175 damage over 6 seconds and the highest damage suffix is "of antrax" with 50 poison damage over 6 seconds, so the highest damage sc obviously is a pestilent sc of anthrax. In combination, the charm deals the sum of damage per unit of time over the sum of the durations, i.e. 175/6+50/6 = 37.5 damage per second over 6+6 = 12 seconds, i.e. a total of 450 damage over 12 seconds. The game actually calculates this on a per frame base, so rounding leads to slightly different amounts - IIRC it's 451.
BTW, only Diablo, Nihlathak and Baal can drop these SCs respectively only SCs from them can be rerolled into a 451 pdscs.
This goes back a couple posts, but ARE you able to hit someone with a poison attack and then switch weapons to one's that give a poison bonus and have that bonus take effect or do you need to attack with those bonus weapons at the beginning?
That's what I thought, but earlier Calizzar was talking about switching to dual death webs to gain their bonus and nobody corrected him which surprised me. So, I just though I'd ask and make sure that there was some trick that I've been missing this whole time =)
Lower Resist's Poison Resist -% and -% Enemy Poison Resistance are applied to a target when it is poisoned, so if you apply poison damage with a melee attack and then cast LR or switch weapons then this has no effect. The only exception is Rabies, since its poison damage can be periodically reapplied by the contagion after the initial bite.
If you fire a missile applying poison damage and switch to -% EPR before the missile hits its target then the switch -%EPR applies. However, most missiles travel so quickly that this can be difficult to accomplish reliably: I'd only recommend it for Plague Javelin, since the poison clouds applying damage are released after the javelin hits.
