Which merc would best suit a sor? lets say a pure fire sor or a pure orb sor

I'd say defiance from act 2 for a sorc because then you can take a few hits, but because you are making a single element you should make sure you have someone that can kill. That is if u want to be able to kill immunes.

Mercs you can use and which are all good:
Might Merc (bosskiller)
HF Merc (groupfreezer)
Defiance Merc (cant take alot of hits)
Crucial with Mercs are their equipment, nothing else. Once you hvae the irght equipment and of those Mercs will do fine and with killing immunes of ANY kind you can assist them with the stun/knockback from Telekinesis (yes the stund and knockback also works on lightning immunes, just not the damage)

Reapers is IMO the best weapon for a sorc. The damage is good, the attack speed is good (especially with Shael and 15% IAS jewel) and it has ingerent leech. But the really freat thing is the chance to cast decrep, which slows your opponents.
Bonehew and Tombreaver too are great weapons. The both have better damage and better inherent speed, but you need to put life leech on it, or on other gear. Tombreavers is the best of these two IMO for the chance to ressurect a skelleton to fight for you (=more safety for your merc)
Tombreavers is by far the rarest good merc weapon. Reapers actually is quite common, I already found 5 or 6 of them and I use them on all my char's mercs, except the merc of my Necro, who carries a Bonehew.
